5 things you should adopt from the Asian beauty world
You have quite a few strange things in the Asian beauty world. For example, they have devices they sleep with to create eyelids (which they don't have), they are masters in nail art and sometimes go a bit overboard (read: toenails that stick out three centimeters) and they have facerollers that ensure a slimmer nose, longer neck, and who knows what else. It's something. But. There are also quite a few skincare tips that really bring out the best in you. I mean: the absolute best. So here are five to think about and incorporate into your beauty ritual routine.
1. Ultra-thin cushions
We've seen them a bit here too, but in Asia, it's booming business. Boxes with foundation that you apply with a cushion. Fantastically handy. No dirty fingers, no foundation that spills out of the bottle, no stains, no hassle. And, they give an incredibly smooth result. And, and, and: there's often a mirror in it, so you can also see what you're doing. No streaks along the jaw, no stains above your brow. Did I already mention that this is super handy?
2. The masters of cleansing
In the Asian beauty ritual, they are quite thorough with cleansing. And I mean really thorough. They take it all quite seriously. Oil to remove eye makeup, a foam for pollution, a gel for freshness. And don't forget the hands, fingertips, and neck. It's a serious affair that really takes time every morning and evening.
3. Serum indulgence
On the skin, there is certainly no saving. So serums are in high demand. A drop for day or night cream is an absolute must.
4. Masquerade
While we only treat ourselves to a mask when we a) have a girls' night out or b) have totally neglected our skin and want to make it somewhat right, the Asian ladies do this quite often. As in: every week. The trend of sheet masks has also blown over from South Korea and is finally starting to gain some ground here. Rightly so, because with such a sheet mask, you can hydrate the skin well. It's a little vitamin bomb.
5. The more, the merrier
A fun shape, a brightly colored makeup box, or just some silliness is something they can appreciate in Asia. Think of little plants in the hair and glitter under the eyes. I think that's clear enough, right? But on the face, they sometimes dare to go just a little bit more than we do. A bit more vibrant cheeks, a bolder eyeliner, a well-shaped eye. I would say, give it a try yourself.
