Chafing thighs in this weather: the hell on earth

Chafing legs

The slightly thinner women probably have no idea what I'm talking about. For all the women who immediately know what this terror is: this one is for you.

I still remember the moment I first realized that my thighs were rubbing together while walking. I was about thirteen and went disco swimming with girlfriends. That was really badass at the time. WHAT THE FUCK is happening here?, went through my mind as I waddled in a bikini towards the pool. Is this seriously happening? With every little step, the insides of my thighs kissed each other. And with that, a sort of semi-childishthigh gap was forever off the table. Years later, I'm used to it and try to convince myself that people whose thighs kiss are one step closer to a mermaid life. So who’s the real winner here?

”The moment I pull the skirts and dresses out of the closet, I prepare myself for the chafing festival”

You know, for women with a build like mine, every summer is a party. The moment I pull the skirts and dresses out of the closet, I prepare myself for the chafing festival. Especially on intense days like these. With every little step. Stick, rub, stick and ultimately goddamn chafe, chafe, CHAFE, PAIN *@#$. These are the little discomforts you just prefer not to talk about. So you just endure that awful chafing machine feeling, only to eventually go home and see the damage and a swollen skin with heat rash and sweat bumps. Sometimes even something that looks like abrasions. You know, I know: that’s not what you’re waiting for.

That’s why, my dear friends, whether you are slim or full-figured, whether you have bow legs or only suffer while shopping or running: 6 tips to prevent those damn sweat bumps.

1. Talk powder. For some people, this works excellently because it is moisture-absorbing. Sprinkle a little in your clothing and then shake it out well before putting it on.

2. Still that short shorts under your skirts, huh. Just make sure to choose a really nice breathable pair. HEMA has nice ones.

3. Shower a lot. Shower cold. This way you sweat a lot less and the blood circulation of your skin improves.

4. Apply a good cream to the inside of your thighs. Countless websites have ointments that create a protective layer without absorbing into the skin and that are water- and sweat-resistant. A dab of Vaseline can help if you’re really going to run, and if you really don’t care, just use a bit of lubricant.

5. Drink plenty of water. This lowers your body temperature, you sweat less, and therefore have less trouble with bumps.

6. Sales director Danielle just came up with the smartest solution of the century: the Body Patch ReSkin. This is an elastic patch that you can buy for a euro or 7, stick on the inside of your legs, and can even be washed. Under the motto that prevention is better than cure. Good luck, thigh rubs!
