Decorating? Really, it's never been this fun

8 ideas picked from Pinterest to jazz up your Easter eggs

I just find decorating and searching for eggs the absolute best part of Easter. Even now (yes, I am indeed 29) I hide the Easter eggs at my parents' house. Someone has to wait in the hallway, meanwhile everything gets hidden and after ten minutes the seeker can come in and the stopwatch starts. We, the hiders, are of course enthusiastically shouting hot/cold and the other is desperately searching among the plants, candles, and newspapers. And we can do that for a whole hour. By now, my sister and I know exactly all the spots (because after 29 years, all the little places are pretty much taken), but my boyfriend is of course still a huge newbie in our house, so he always loses.

Alright. Eggs decorating. Another thing. I can spend hours on that, so the Easter breakfast is usually shifted to brunch and that's where the prettiest eggs are presented. In the past, those things were of course horrendously ugly, with feathers, sequins, and nasty paint that really didn't just stay on the egg, but now they are little artworks. Where of course no egg-tapping is played, but they can sit a bit longer until a nasty smell comes from them.

Okay. So this is how we approach it. Start with boiling (hard boiling) white eggs. They are the prettiest and the colors come out best on them. Then you can use acrylic paint, because those colors are also the prettiest and the brightest. Or you can go for waterproof markers, that works too. Don't have a steady hand while drawing? No worries. You make templates (cut out a shape from an A4 sheet and color it in) or you just go for the sparkle and speckle effects. Just fun. See below otherwise. Plenty of fun inspiration from Pinterest to make a huge impression at the table tomorrow.
