Fashion dilemma of the week

SAND, GRAVEL OR GRASS

Help! What kind of shoes do I wear to a wedding?

It's summer and wedding invites are piling up on your doormat, so quickly get those nice dresses, skirts, and suits out of the closet. Because whether it's a wedding with complicated evening attire, black tie, city dress code or just about a nice smart casual look; the dress code isn't the only thing that matters when scoring an awesome party look. Don't forget to check your location. Why? Read on!

You might think so, but at a wedding, heels are really not mandatory. So don't panic if you see something with sand or grass under your feet once you're at the venue. I'll tell you which shoes will definitely make your feet shine. From lace-ups, loafers to ankle boots: with these shoes, you rock your look without blisters or twisted ankles on an exciting surface.

Heels and sand will never go together, because sinking into the sand is a big risk when you're at a beach party. And grabbing a pair of flip-flops right away isn't necessarily very festive either. Go for nice sandals. Because at the beach, sand is just part of the deal, and if you're standing on sand, you might as well feel it on your feet. From Gucci to Zara, the search for the perfect sandal has just begun!

Nice, such a cool outdoor location, but those pebbles and stones are a lot less fun. To get through the day without scrapes and twisted ankles, it's best to go for a nice wedge or at least a as wide a heel as possible. And don't forget that man's arm by your side, because this kind of stone remains an exciting story on heels. Do you prefer flat? I totally get it. There are a number of good alternatives that will definitely be seen on your feet. A lace-up shoe, loafer, or ankle boot are great and certainly festive alternatives.

Have you heard of the Heelos (with the slogan ‘Save Our Stilettos’)? Those are caps that you clamp under your heels. With those caps, you no longer sink into the grass. It's a really fun idea, but this is certainly not the only option in fashion emergencies. It does depend a bit on your dress code, but when I think of grass, I quickly think of short boots, espadrilles, and cowboy boots. I mention a lace dress, fringe bag, and boots. Et voilà: bohemian chic is on.
