I AM WEARING THE PANTS

Now you might think that a superduper feminist account is coming. Not really, but actually not at all. Here at the editorial (yes, I'm practicing words) skirts are swirling around, but here's the thing: I'm a pants girl.

On Amayzine's most beautiful evening of the year I found the coolest pants ever that were worthy of the Concertgebouw. So that's what I do, right? Then I have a here-you-pull-everything-out-of-the-closet opportunity to make a grand entrance in a dress, I saunter in with pants. And my Levi's is my everything. Look here for a moment, because Renske has already conjured the raisins out from under the skirts in the proverbial porridge. I score 3 out of 5 on this list.

And I'm not alone, over 80 percent of Dutch women wear denim three times a week and 85 percent of that bunch you see in jeans. Helloooooo ladies, I feel you. Oh, such an A-line seems awesome to me. But without heels, with my calves, you quickly become an Oompa Loompa and I pass on that.

This is what I love about wearing pants:

– If you get torpedoed off your bike at full speed, everything down under is covered. And a Sharon-Stone moment doesn’t come into your day.
– It looks great with everything and gives just the right relaxed swing to your look, even with glitter and high heels.
– On those days when nothing fits (because of your belly, butt, legs), it still looks good. Look, I call that a partner in crime.
– And I know that comfortable is a bit of a dirty word, but it feels so nice.
