JUST TOO BUSY
‘Hi, Are you coming for a Friday night drink? X.’ Olé, fiesta! Normally, I pop the cork at four o'clock and am up to no good until the weekend winds down. But man, I can't anymore. I long for apathetic scenes on the couch and thoughtlessly shoving a bowl of crudités down my throat (nachos with cheddar, guacamole, green chilies, and a whole lot of cream). But I'm sitting like a roadrunner on speed, checking my three inboxes with one eye, swiping houses with the other eye, and toasting with my friend with my left hand (because yes, he's still around). By the way, is it dark all day or am I missing that rare sunbeam? As if that daylight saving time gives you a permanent delay.
Our sales hero Danielle gave me the book ‘No More Busy’ by Tony Crabbe. Fresh, because hello, she had no time to read. So I got priority to make the material of Zen mastery my own. And it has been on my nightstand ever since. The book creeps up on me in the dark, bombards me in my bear sleep with cannonballs, and throws me reproachful glances as a bonus when I wake up. I'm exhausted from that thing because it must be read. I already got the info that it states ooo-aaa that you check your social media a million times a day. So now I not only have paranoia from a book, but I'm suddenly also harshly paranoid when I check my social. And that is often.
You know what I find curious? That I’m running after myself in a hurry, but saying that you’re busy is something you don’t do. If you say it out loud, then it is so. So hell no, you don’t admit it. Busy is for the weak. This skirts a bit against the twelve steps of you know what, de-nial, everyone knows it and no one says it. But why? I’m selling a house, looking for a new place, changing jobs for the umpteenth time, working about fifty hours a week, and trying to look a bit nice for the day. My eyebrows desperately need a wax and my nail polish is chipping. Goodness, can I just say that it’s a bit busy? And yes, I absolutely add that I myself a.k.a. Speedy Gonzales am the cause of this misery.
I’m now going to read May's tips about order in your workday. And that book, you will definitely get an extensive analysis of. Promise, because I can't wait for that low-pressure area.
