Fun & Famous
Popular MTV shows from the past
Well, that music television (if you ever wondered what MTV actually stood for) hasn't been that for years. Nowadays, it's almost a miracle to come across a music video when you have the channel on. But god, MTV has always brought us beautiful visuals. From the most spoiled snobs in the world to the most insane addiction. The 90s and the early 2000s era of MTV was quite enjoyable, don't you think? Just a trip down memory lane.
My Super Sweet 16
Spoiled snobs then. Crying because they get a black Mercedes instead of a gray one. Buying three different designer dresses to wear just one night. Dying their poodle's hair pink. Missy Elliott and Lil Wayne coming to perform. It was all just a bit different than sitting in a circle with a piece of cake.
Dismissed
Dating two people at the same time and then choosing who you like best. That was Dismissed. Not bad, right? And delightful to watch. Especially because for some reason everyone felt the need to kiss someone they had literally just met ten minutes before.
Cribs
Peeking inside celebs‘ homes: yes, please. And every time: ’This is where the magic happens' during the master bedroom tour. Okay, okay.
The Real World
Put a group of random people in a bizarrely cool house in a random city and what do you get? Drama. Lots and lots of drama. And always two roommates ending up in bed together followed by a lot of fighting because one of them falls in love and the other flirts with someone new every day.
Making the Video
A behind-the-scenes look at making music videos. I always thought this was really cool. Especially the making of ‘Dirty Pop’ by *NSYNC, I think I watched that about fifty times when Justin was still walking around with poodle-like hair.
Becoming
Apparently, I'm the only one in the editorial team who knows this, but this was really my favorite back in the day. I can still vividly remember an episode where a mega fan of Britney Spears got to reenact her music video ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ (FYI: this is what the show was about) and she was showered with gifts from Miss Spears herself. She got something like three pairs of Skechers, for example. You might not want to be seen in them now, but believe me, back then that was incredibly hip and I was so ridiculously jealous.
True Life
Addicted to sex, addicted to food (I can relate to that), cheerleaders, going to Fat Camp, breakups, athletes, rappers, autism, long-distance relationships… And the list goes on. Everything was discussed during True Life. Sometimes funny, but sometimes really intensely sad.
The X Effect
Two exes who think they are going on vacation with their current partners, but end up spending two days together. And their current partners can peek in. Yeah, drama ensured. Delicious.
