MICKY HOOGENDIJK

Anyone who thinks that Micky has been idle after her roles in Good Times, Bad Times, Grijpstra & De Gier and Koefnoen, can go stand in the corner. Adam Curry's ex-wife is now fully pouring her heart and soul into portrait photography, and it's going really well. Tonight, her work can be admired at the LAYER exhibition in Naarden, for which she has flown in specially from America. I say: it's high time for a TGIF.

And, are you feeling healthy excitement for the opening tonight?

“Always, but so far I’m still quite relaxed. A glass of wine beforehand and we’ll sail through the evening, haha. Luckily, things speak the photos for themselves. And I’m in good company with friends Judith and Lolo.”

What can be seen at the exhibition?

“Three different types of work: paintings, sculptures, and photographic art. Created by women who have in common that they have gone through the ‘layers’ of life, hence: LAYER!”

What does your weekend look like?

“It’s a madhouse. When I’m back in the Netherlands, my schedule is always packed, but now with the exhibition it’s completely full. The work still needs to be transported and hung up, there’s press, there are interviews and photoshoots, catering, social media: a whole handful. But soon it will just be nice to enjoy and meet fun new people during the opening.”

What is the photo you are most proud of?

“The photo of my life I still have to make. I feel like I’m just on my way.”

Does your Sunday look different than your Saturday?

“I’m actually never really into the ‘weekend’. As a self-employed entrepreneur, you work 24/7. At least I do.”

What’s on your nightstand?

“Right now it’s the new book ‘You Say It’ by Connie Palmen. Very impressive.”

Your favorite Thank God It's Friday-moment?

“I enjoy every day, I don’t need a Friday for that!”

What can we wake you up for in the middle of the night?

“I don’t think I can say that here, hahaha.”

And, is the alarm set ridiculously early on Monday or is it manageable?

“I’m really a morning person and I’m always up early. I love it when it’s light again and a new day begins. Sleeping in is not an option, no.‘

The LAYER exhibition can be visited by appointment from May 20 to 29.
