THE BIGGEST WEDDING TRENDS

This is what you need and want to know

Are you getting married? Then I think Pinterest is a paradise of inspiration for you. I'm not getting married, but even I have a board pinned with pictures of fairy tale dresses, fabulous decorations, stunning invitations and photo poses for a here-I-never-regret-it photo album. And yes, I know you can only get married once, but in my opinion, you should just do it about ten times to be able to realize all those ideas from Pinterest. And Pinterest also revealed the wedding trends of this year. So hold on tight and know what you need to do.

Alternative seating

Getting the whole family and friend group neatly lined up? And then having the hassle that you actually don’t want that aunt front-row, but your best friend, but you can’t really do that to your parents? Oh, it seems like a nightmare to arrange the seating of the chairs. With this seating, you won’t have so many problems. You just place all the chairs in a circle. The guests see each other, you stand in the radiant center, and all problems are solved.

The new location

Getting married on an estate? According to Pinterest, that is really quite passé. Since last year, there has been 25% more search for fairy tale gardens, special places in the woods, or other locations that are not so standard and where multiple weddings have already taken place.

The friend as officiant

An officiant from the civil registry? That all sounds incredibly official, but actually, people prefer to choose a friend to do the official speech. That is much more personal than a speech about how you met and that you love each other a lot.

Niet-technologie ceremonies

“We really want to see your faces, not your devices.” I find that very funny. Of course, I would love it if everyone was enthusiastically Instagramming about my wedding, but it might be just a bit nicer if people enjoy the moment itself. The trend is a wedding without all that fuss and where people just leave their phones at home. Old-school weddings. And you’ll see the pictures in the photo book a year later.

Mix & match bridesmaids

The American feeling of all the witnesses and masters of ceremony all standing in the same dress in a row is no longer in vogue. It’s actually nice if all the girls wear a completely different dress. There doesn’t have to be any agreement at all. Only it is of course strictly forbidden to wear white.

Food trucks

Budget couples are looking more for original ideas, of which the food truck is one. The classic ‘sit down dinner’ is being pushed aside and people can happily stand in line to get their plate. They then sit down at a picnic table and eat their meal there. As if you are at a festival, yes.

Bits & bites

So if you didn’t have that sit down dinner but stood in line for the food trucks, you can imagine that you still feel like snacking in the evening. That’s totally fine. The pizzas, fries, and bags of chips can just come out.

‘Honeyfund’

Salt and pepper shakers were already quite passé, but what is hugely upcoming are the honeyfunds. That is a pot where you put a nice amount in, so the lovebirds can really enjoy their honeymoon. Extra enjoyment, so to speak.
