THE LIPSTICK TIPS FROM THE PROS

When we talk to a makeup artist, lipstick is always quite a thing. Naomi Donne really doesn't leave the house without color on the lips, Charlotte Tilbury believes that a red lipstick gives your life a total upgrade and the ladies at the Dior counter won't let you leave the store without having applied some color on your lips.

So what we need to do is of course stock up on a huge range of lipsticks. Lipstick is a must. You need a nude one for the basic days, an all-time classic red for the days when you can spice yourself up a bit and a pink for the cheerful days that you want to accentuate a bit more.

And then? Well, the makeup artists give you the tips. A well-colored lip really makes life a bit more fun, so it's advisable to follow all of the below. Make the most of it.

“It's really handy to first color your lips completely with your lip pencil, blend it with a brush, and then apply the lipstick over it. Everything stays so much prettier and lasts longer.”

Gigi Bowmer

“No time for makeup? Keep the rest very basic and take the time for an amazing color on the lips. A good lip color gives so much more expression.”

Blair Patterson

“If you want to have the perfect red lip color, first look at the color of your lips naturally. If you have a ‘cool’ lip color by nature, you should stay within the ‘cool’ range. And warm goes for warm. If you want your lips to stand out completely and give them a different dimension, choose contrast.”

James Vincent

“Use a color corrector as a base first. It neutralizes the lip tone and makes your lip color look even more beautiful and special.”

Petra Strand

“Test lipstick on the inside of your finger and not on the side of your hand. Your fingertip is actually closest to your natural lip color, so this way you can best imitate it.”

Kerry Cole

“Use a natural color eyeliner to accentuate the lines of your lips, up to the cupid's bow. It ensures that your lipstick doesn't fade and that your lips look even bigger.”

Petra Strand

“Look at the color of your lips on the inside. And especially at your lower lip. Choose a color that has about the same color as the inside. Then you really have an amazing color that suits you very well. Oh, and don't do it in public, of course.”

Maggie Ford Danielson

“Apply some concealer in the corners of your lips. It gives your lips a lift.”
