THE MOST FUN WAYS TO FINALLY DO SOMETHING WITH THOSE VACATION PHOTOS
And it really doesn't have to take months
During a vacation I take an average of about 3,018 photos. I'm an enthusiastic clicker and can easily take ten photos from the same location (in a different position, I assure you), but I'm also a sucker for capturing memories. The fact that my boyfriend is a photographer raises the average to about 9,036 photos from a vacation, which makes the archive of memories quite large.
But honestly – and you probably recognize this – it's incredibly fun to take a lot of photos, but then I never look at them again. They are safely stored in a folder on my computer, with another copy on the hard drive to immortalize them, but it's really a shame that you don't have a physical keepsake anymore. I recently met up with friends who brought along a binder with vacation photos from 15 years ago in New Zealand, to convince us to really go there once. It worked, the ticket is already booked. Thanks in part to that incredibly quaint cut-and-paste feeling, because a laptop would have taken away some of the charm.
So. I've decided from now on to immortalize every trip, because that makes the after-fun so much better. It takes a few hours (think: sticking photos, sorting, editing, and who knows what else), but then you have even more fun dragging that book around to tell your vacation story to everyone. And then it's almost time to make the next trip again. That works homesickness-healing and the next vacation is closer than ever. And you understand: once you start, you get carried away with enthusiasm. I certainly do. I came across these cool vacation enhancers and that makes the after-fun a thousand times more enjoyable.
Polaroids
Nothing is better than having old-school photos as polaroids. Now a photo just has to turn out really quickly with a polaroid and you don't have 300 chances. Then Fotofabriek has the perfect solution. You take the photos with your camera or phone (so you can keep clicking), but you ultimately order them as polaroids. And you don't have to worry that they'll secretly start fading after a month.
Memory game
Vacation is the time to play Rummikub for a long time, Yahtzee for hours, and make sure you don't get stuck in Mens Erger Je Niet. So make a memory game. from your vacation photos. Then you have a good reason to hold onto that vacation feeling even longer.
The old-fashioned postcard
Postcards immediately give the feeling that you are still in such an incredibly nice place. With those little streets where all the cute racks full of cards are. You can do it too. Have your photos printed as postcards, buy a cute rack and scroll through it occasionally. And if it's a really dreary day, just send yourself a card. Just as fun.
Now I can imagine that you don't always have your DSLR ready to take a photo, and therefore just quickly snap a shot with your iPhone. With #mobileprint from Hema you can print all the photos from your phone in square Instagram format or mini-stretch format for your regular mobile photos. They are printed on slightly thicker paper with a nice gloss, and you also get them in a nice box.
Magnet photos
Delightfully quaint, taking such an awful fridge magnet as a souvenir. The uglier, the better. To make it a stylish little scene, you can have your personal Instagram photos (or vacation photos) printed on a magnet via Via Martine . Just a bit more fun, and you think back to your vacation with pleasure every day when you dive into that fridge again.
Sticker tattoos
For a lasting memory of your holiday, you really don't have to get a bucket of ink. Look, if you want a tattoo, go for it, but it can also be done in a slightly different way. At Picatattooonyou you can have your vacation photos printed as sticker tattoos. Brilliant! That way you carry that memory really closest to you.
