THIS IS HOW YOU WEAR THE BUN IN 5 WAYS
Of course, I am incredibly fond of the bun. Now the problem with a bun is that it quickly becomes a gym bun (read; a quick version just thrown on the head with an elastic band around it) and that a ballerina bun is actually still quite tricky to get right.
To help you a bit with this trend (because yes, buns are the thing this summer), we have scoured some buns for you. They may look like very special ingenious buns, but in the meantime, they are just 2-minute masterpieces on your head and therefore totally doable.
1. Half with a ponytail
It was first of course the half-bun, where the bun was on the head and the rest of your hair hung loose. Now it has become the half-tail, a mix between a bun and a ponytail. The rest you just let hang loosely. That it doesn't look like you've forgotten to incorporate half of your hair is shown by Etro. They do it in an incredibly stylish way; with the help of a hairspray and gel, you smooth everything out.
2. The nonchalant donut
You really don't have to work with styrofoam props in your hair. We are now past the perfect donut bun. More important is to let that donut work a bit. Pull out some strands, let parts just totally fall loose, and you have a donut that is actually past its prime, but therefore looks incredibly trendy. This is how it should be.
3. The accessory
If your bun is somewhat unsuccessful, you can easily upgrade it with an accessory. Even if it has turned out perfectly, you can do that. Think of cute headbands, nice clips, or ribbons that you intertwine in your bun.
4. The sport bun 2.0
A sport bun doesn't have to be wrong at all. You just have to make it with some care, so it doesn't fall out within a minute. Prep your hair with a good mousse and a salt spray so that everything you do with your hair actually stays in place. After that, it's just a matter of making a bun as nonchalant as possible, pulling everything quite well, and finishing it off with that same salt spray again. Need inspiration? 5. The wet look bun
Maybe an idea if you've really been to the gym to go for this look. Now it is of course true that your hairstyle dries quickly, so work with good beach sprays and gels to wet look keep it longer.
