Win!

4 DAYS TORONTO
FOR 2 PEOPLE

That’s possible. Really. Ever since I saw Oprah's famous giveaway show (“and you get a car and YOU get a car!”), it has been my big dream to do the same. Today that dream is coming true a little bit. Because pay attention, you won't believe your ears: Amayzine is giving away a TRIP to TORONTO IN CANADA together with Air Canada.

A Valentine’s weekend to be precise, from Thursday, February 11 to Sunday, February 14, for two people. Air Canada is giving you a ticket and a hotel, and I’m now giving you some Things To Do in Toronto so you know exactly where to go once you’re there. At the bottom of this post, you can read what you need to do to have a chance to win the trip.

As you may know last year I flew with our Air Canada friends to Toronto and I fell in love with the city and its surroundings. Because I already knew that Canada is perfect for anyone who loves nature and outdoor activities. What I was less aware of is that Toronto as a city is on par with New York, just without the hysterical crowds and never-ending chaos. It’s clean, the people are extremely nice, and the city is full of delightful shops and cozy cafés.

1. The CN Tower

You probably know it from pictures, because that’s the tall, narrow tower with the ball on top. Do you have it in front of you? Well, that ball is not just any ball. It’s a revolving restaurant (!) called 360 Restaurant, where you can enjoy a divine dinner while slowly but surely seeing all of Toronto pass by. It’s really spectacular. The ride up is already a highlight (ha-ha), because within a minute you’re shot up. The tower is a total of 553 meters high and the restaurant is located at 351 meters. And then there’s the glass floor at 342 meters, where you can walk (or, in my case, crawl) over a glass plate while the world goes on meters and meters below you. Those who reserve at the restaurant do not have to pay for an entrance ticket, but you can also visit the tower without dining there.

2. The Shoe Museum

A city after my own heart, because they have a museum for shoes. I mean, come on. The Bata Shoe Museum, right in the city center and next to the ROM; Royal Ontario Museum. So if your loved one isn’t in the mood for shoes, send them to the ROM and you go into Bata. You’ll find footwear from all over the world and there are more than 13,000 items. This museum is, by the way, the only shoe museum in all of North America. Shoes from small tribes of never-before-found mountain villages, but also designs from Louboutin and shoes worn by Queen Victoria, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and Elton John are waiting for you.

3. Shopping

The aforementioned museums are on Bloor Street, the same street where Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., and others have their stores. Ideal for a bit of window shopping and people watching. For more affordable pieces, head to Toronto Eaton Center. With more than 200 stores, there’s always something in between, especially when those stores are named H&M, J.Crew, Saks Fifth Avenue, Aldo, Armani, Club Monaco, Forever 21, Kate Spade, Massimo Dutti, Sephora, Nine West, Zara, and Victoria’s Secret. By the way, just outside the city center, you have Toronto Premium Outlet, where brands like Armani, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Hugo Boss, J.Crew, Nike, Ted Baker, and The Kooples have a huge outlet. There was also a store where I saw Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, DvF, and Gucci hanging with huge discounts.

4. Kensington

I found this the nicest neighborhood. A multicultural melting pot of creatives, musicians, hippies, and hipsters. Everywhere you see painted houses, cars turned into works of art, small coffee shops, trendy lunch spots, and many vintage stores where pieces from Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel hang on the racks. Music seems to come from everywhere and really, it’s a party. Go here in the morning for breakfast, and stick around until dinner. Guaranteed success.

5. Rogers Stadium

I never thought I would warm up to baseball, but it happened in Toronto. At Rogers Stadium right under the CN Tower, we saw the Blue Jays play, Snoop Dogg threw the first pitch – and it was amazing. So amazing that I was cheering and shouting with a foam hand and everything, just because the atmosphere was so good, not because I necessarily understood the game. All in all, I enjoyed it so much that last September I attended a baseball game in New York again, but then of the Yankees. Anyway, buy a ticket for any game, order a bucket of beer and a slice of pizza, and have the best evening ever., 6. Algonquin Provincial Park.

With an area of almost 8000 square meters, this is hardly a park anymore, more like a small country. About two hours north of Toronto, you can play outside endlessly, spot moose, canoe, and see incredibly beautiful nature. Just relax a bit, you know.

7. Niagara Falls.

Yes, of course, you’re going here too. It’s hard to imagine when you’re in bustling Toronto, but in just an hour and a half drive, you’re at the world-famous Niagara Falls. I’ve been there and can guarantee you: this will not disappoint. You get a hideous poncho and at first, you might think that’s a bit over the top, but once you’re at the falls, you understand why. There’s so much water coming down that even with a poncho, you’ll still be soaked. But it was one of the most impressive things I’ve ever done, so every drop was worth it.

To win this trip to Canada, you must of course be available on these dates. It’s not possible to go at another time. Then like, share, and comment why you think you should win this Amayzine trip under the Facebook post of the giveaway and who knows, you might be enjoying yourself in Toronto soon.

P.S. The winner will be announced on February 1 between 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM, so keep an eye on our Facebook page.
