Women and men who exercise little are BETTER in bed

If you're not a fan of setting your alarm for 6 AM to be tortured in the pitch dark with a bootcamp, possibly even in pouring rain... Take it easy.
Because actually, it's perfectly fine to hate exercising. To loathe a treadmill. To cry when you have to do a downward dog. Or to use the hashtag #fitgirl only as a joke when you post a picture of yourself lying under a blanket on the couch (bag of chips included). Researchers know for sure: those who don't like to exercise, are better in bed. As in: better with tricks in the bedroom. Look. We can work with that.
This extremely welcome finding is the result of a study with 10,000 participating couples aged between 25 and 45, of whom the number of exercisers versus non-exercisers (m/f) was approximately evenly distributed. The couples were asked all sorts of questions: for example, how happy they were with their sex life and how often they were actively on the sports field each week. AND YES. Hooray for Netflix marathons: 72 percent of participants whose partner did NOT exercise rated their sex life higher.
If both the man and the woman exercise little, the lovers rate their sex life an average of 8.2. Quite optimistic. But oh la la: the DIEHARD exercisers rated their sex life ‘only’ a seven. Still a bit sad. You think you're doing well when the sweat breaks out in that stuffy gym with fluorescent lights again. No. You'd better hang out on the couch with your love. Because according to the researchers, this outcome is so because people who exercise a lot have less energy left for some romantic action in bed at night. And those who have less sex are generally a bit less satisfied with their sexy life.
Oh you know, I wouldn't mind being on a tennis court once a week to blow off some steam. A nice teacher included; fine by me. But to be honest, it can be refreshing not to read about why yoga/pilates/bootcamp/running is so super-duper good for you. Because no, I absolutely hate that. And I'm sure (secretly) many others do too. Go team couch.
FACTS

– Football is the most popular sport in the Netherlands – not so surprising. The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) has over 1.2 million members. But well, it's harder to count runners and the chance is greater that more people occasionally go for a run than that they play Fußball.
– After football, tennis is next: also incredibly popular. Number 3 on the list is more remarkable: sport fishing. Fishing, yes. Calming, that it is.
– Over 5 million Dutch people are members of one or more sports clubs. That automatically means: about 12 million people are not. Just sayin’.
