The Oscar looks
Live from the red carpet
A very good morning, early fashion birds. While your alarm probably just went off, it never went off for us. Because if you missed it: Team Amayzine pulled an all-nighter last night. It's Oscar night! Curious how our night looked in the E Wow Suite in the W Hotel ? Then quickly check our Instagram Stories. Something with a round bed, a lot of coffee, and a humongous screen. Elke just told you the highlights and the most striking moments of the Oscars here, but I have the cozy task of catching you up on the red carpet looks. The signs ‘Shoot the stylist’, ‘Go home and change’, and ‘#Winning’ were flying around Elke and Annick. Who we consider #winning (and who is anything but that) I will tell you now.
Shoot the stylist
Teresa Palmer
The old school sequins, double straps that last had their coolness in 2000, and the belt that might be the worst of all. Because why wear a waist belt when your skirt only starts at your waist? Prom goes totally wrong.
Dakota Johnson
Just because her stylist forgot to steam her dress. Wrinkles all over the place. Okay, and because her shoulder pads are about to collapse. But our Gucci love isn't diminished by this. Duh.
Scarlett Johansson
So. We’re not feeling it, Scarlett. Not at all. Not the color combination. Not the print. And certainly not that belt. Alaïa and Scarlett? Maybe not the best combo out there.
Halle Berry
As cool as we find her afro hairstyle, her dress is definitely not our favorite of the night. Something with a tangled fishing net and a Christmas-like bottom dipped in metallic. Custom Atelier Versace, we’ll pass this time.
Priyanka Chopra
Here is the Oscar award in the flesh. The only difference we found is the color. This one is also not necessarily our favorite Ralph & Russo of the night, but hey, tastes differ.
Go home and change
Leslie Mann
Zac Posen, we are fans of you. Really. But this folded duvet in yellow today is just a little less. But Leslie, even if your dress might not be our favorite, your hair and makeup score 100 points. It looks so good on you!
Ruth Negga
We are completely in love with her customized Valentino dress. And how we would love to see those jewels in our own jewelry box. But in the end: maybe a bit too much red on red on red. So leave the tiara with rubies at home next time, Ruth!
Charlize Theron
We like the dress. Only we don’t quite understand that quiff with the mini bun. A quick hair change is therefore not a luxury. Will we see you back after that?
#Winning
Janelle Monáe
I have no idea how Janelle sits in her seat in the hall all night, but seriously, this is just a walking piece of art. Ellie Saab Couture it is #hearteyes.
Karlie Kloss
White is the color of the Oscars 2017? A top model among the white ones is this Stella McCartney. A top model for a top model, then.
Taraji P. Henson
Her Alberta Ferretti velvet dress is based on her character Katherine Johnson in ‘Hidden Figures’. Whether as Taraji or as Katherine; this dark blue beauty is being rocked quite well.
Chrissy Teigen
Call it an asymmetrical cape or an arm veil, one thing is for sure: it’s quite a thing on the red carpet. So is this creation by Zuhair Murad. Oh and John, mind your step… That veil almost tore from Chrissy’s dress during your moment of fame. Oops.
Jessica Biel
Oh Jessica, you are stunning. Ten points for your hair, makeup, but definitely also for your KaufmanFranco dress. Secretly maybe my favorite of the night. Oh and with that choker from Tiffany & Co. you score a 10+++ in our book.
Emma Stone
In Givenchy Haute Couture. A golden dress for the golden girl of the night. And how well does her dress match the old Hollywood Gucci look of Ryan Gosling? Her (okay; and Elke's and Annick's) Golden Boy.
Nicole Kidman
Look, this is a real classic beauty. And that is exactly what suits Nicole the best. All thanks to Armani Privé. We are fans!
Brie Larson
Brie proves that a black dress doesn’t have to be boring on the red carpet. She rocks Oscar de la Renta and both my #Winning signs went up for her.
