Do you want to move abroad?

According to expats, these are the best countries to live in

When I was back in Paris a few weeks ago for this fun party, I really felt the urge to go back to Paris to live there. The idea of living in another country has been on my mind for a while. I miss discovering something completely unknown. Paris is not new to me, but I still discover something new every time I am there. I wouldn't mind living in another country either, and tips from other experienced expats are always more than welcome.

Once, research was conducted by InterNations to find out which cities were the best to live in according to expats, but recently there has also been research among 12,500 expats in 188 different countries to see which country is actually the best to live in. Bet you won't expect number 1?

10. Spain

Regarding the large number of leisure activities, the expats who lived here were very satisfied.

9. Singapore

The people who lived here felt especially safe in the country, and the quality of schools for their children was also of a high standard.

8. Colombia

Here, it was mainly the locals who made it a nice place, but one had to take into account regions that are not always the safest. It's just a matter of doing your research in Colombia about where to go and where not to go.

7. Malta

Malta scored many points, particularly in the work category, as expats can easily find jobs here, although they often receive a higher salary for the same positions in their own country.

6. New Zealand

This country has the best balance between work and private life, as expats here work fewer hours per week than in other countries.

5. Portugal

93 percent of the expats who participated in this research and who had also lived in Portugal indicated that they were very satisfied with living in Portugal. Are you heading to Lisbon soon? Here's another restaurant tip  from former KLM staff.

4. Taiwan

In terms of health, Taiwan scored very high. Of all countries, Taiwan scored the highest in terms of satisfaction with the quality of healthcare.

3. Mexico

Not only are the people of the country considered friendly, but the climate here is also attractive, and it is said to not be too expensive to live here. Do keep in mind that you also need to know where to go and where not to go in Mexico regarding safety.

2. Costa Rica

This seems to be the country where you can easily make new friends. 48 percent of expats have indicated that they would like to live here permanently.

1. Bahrain

Although the country has also received criticism regarding the treatment of the local population, Bahrain has performed very well in this research as a ’base’ for expats. It has the perfect mix of working life and social life. And well, the climate is certainly not bad either. Time to move then?
