Everything we already know about season 3 of Stranger Things
I was ridiculed again last week in the editorial office of yes, I’m that girl who binge-watched all ten episodes of the new ‘scariest series ever‘ on Netflix last weekend. So Dark, and no, it wasn’t scary, but weird AF it definitely was. Some people tried to compare it a bit to Stranger Things – I somewhat understand certain comparisons, but for everyone who hasn’t seen it yet: I absolutely don’t think they resemble each other. To continue on Stranger Things (here everything I wondered after binge-watching the second season); a few things are already known about season número tres. Here they come:
1. There will be a time jump
And by time jump, I mean that season 3 will not pick up right where we left off in season 2. There will be some time in between. This has everything to do with the fact that the kids in the cast are of course growing up quickly, and that needs to be taken into account when writing a script. The Duffer Brothers, the writers of the show, shared the following with The Hollywood Reporter: ‘The kids are getting older. Writing and producing such a show takes time, and by the time we start filming again, a year will have passed. That presents certain challenges. We can’t just start where season 2 ended.’
2. The Mind Flayer is coming back
Oops, I almost forgot to mention that there are spoilers coming for anyone who isn’t done with season 2 yet. So here it is: click away, dive into this. We all remember the final shot, right? That you see the Mind Flayer is still alive in the Upside Down? Anyway, that alone was a sign that he would return in the next season. Dan Cohen, executive producer of Stranger Things, also indicated in an interview with TV Guide that they consciously chose to leave him in the Upside Down so he can come back in the third season.
3. Ha, finally an explanation about character Billy
This was one of the questions I had after season 2. I didn’t really understand the added value of his role, but all of this will be better portrayed next season. Matt Duffer says that Billy actually has a big role in the series, but because there is so much to tell, they decided to spread this over all seasons.
4. Erica will have a bigger role
You know, the super cute (but slightly annoying) sister of Lucas. ‘There will definitely be more Erica in season 3,’ says Ross Duffer.
5. Kali will also be seen again
In the episode titled ‘The Lost Sister’ we meet Eleven’s ‘sister’, Kali, but we also see how Eleven leaves her behind and returns to Hawkins. ‘It feels weird if we don’t resolve Kali’s storyline, so I would say the chance of her returning in the new season is very high,’ says Matt.
6. More numbers will appear
We already know Eleven and Eight (Jane and Kali)? but the executive producer has hinted that we will be introduced to several ‘numbers’ from the Hawkins Laboratory.
7. There’s a good chance this will be the very last season
CRYING, yes. Okay, maybe one more after this, but from the beginning, the Duffer brothers have been very honest about the fact that they didn’t plan to make a lot of seasons.
Well, it’s not yet known when we can expect a new season, but luckily we received this delightful news this week that will keep us satisfied for a while.
