GOLDEN GLOBES, GOLDEN ROBES

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

On an evening like that of the Golden Globes it’s primarily about the awards being presented and who wins them and so on, but honestly: many of us often watch just because we are curious about the creations the stars have donned this time. Right? And what you hope to encounter are major fashion no-no’s. Well, don’t worry, amidst all the beauty, there were some this year as well. So let’s take a moment for a round-up: good, bad and downright ugly.

The Good

Emma Stone

“It’s pink and there are stars on it.” I mean: what else could she say about it? It’s pink yes, and has little stars. I’m in love with this Valentino dress, although the Tiffany & Co. necklace wasn’t necessarily needed.

Evan Rachel Wood

In an Altuzarra suit. What a badass. “Dresses aren’t a requirement. You don’t have to wear one. Just be yourself because your worth is more than that.” And that’s just how it is. Evan, you win it for me today.

Lily Collins

As if she came out of a fairy tale. Lily wins the ‘Bell of the Ball Award’ for me this year in her Zuhair Murad dress.

The two Ryans

Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds. Bow ties around it and wrap that up. Swoon.

The Bad

Amy Adams

Sorry, but I really have nothing to do with this. It may be Tom Ford, but a black sequin dress always has too high a tasteless quotient for me. Excuse me.

Blake Lively

You know what it is with this Atelier Versace dress? If those crazy pockets hadn’t been there, I would have found it very beautiful. But with them, I find it just medium. It could be better, Blake. Furthermore, I think her makeup is on point and she also had very nice arm candy in the form of her husband Ryan Reynolds.

Milo Ventimiglia

Milo, I always find you handsome (#teamJess). There’s actually nothing wrong with your suit. But that mustache. A bit Ron Jeremy-like, don’t you think?

Jonah Hill

Everything was fine until I saw your white sneakers.

The Ugly

Sarah Jessica Parker

This is 50 shades of NO. What’s up with those sleeves, Vera Wang? But, Sarah Jessica, what I really appreciate is your tribute to the recently deceased Carrie Fisher with your 2017 version of the Princess Leila bun.

Pharrell and his wife

Nice, always wanting to look different. But I find this dress more ‘walking down the boulevard in Saint Tropez’ than Golden Globes-worthy. And come on Pharrell, your hat may be Chanel, but you don’t wear this to an award show?!

Nicole Kidman

Another dress with those crazy sleeves. This time one from Alexander McQueen. Is this a trend I missed and just don’t quite understand? I’m not feeling it at all.

Karrueche Tran

Don’t ask me how she ended up at the Golden Globes. The only thing I know about her is that she is the ex-girlfriend of Chris Brown, and she’s just wearing a mega ugly dress. Not so pretty in Dolce and Gabbana pink.
