The tastiest Christmas hits

Every year I wonder again how many cents Michael Bublé and Mariah Carey earn as a bonus once Christmas is back. I even think those two could have retired long ago with just their Christmas albums. The Daily Mail did some research to see what such a Christmas hit actually does to your bank account. Well, All I Want For Christmas at least brings in about €425,000 extra in the bank account of Mariah. But if you think she earns the most money: no way. Mariah is in third place and Michael Bublé isn't even on the list. My and Simoon's personal favorite, Driving Home For Christmas by Chris Rea, is also nowhere to be found.

Okay, want to know who is comfortably well off every year? Here are the top ten moneymakers during the holidays:

1. Merry Xmas Everybody, Slade – about €564,000 per year

2. Fairytale of New York, The Pogues – about €450,000 per year

3. All I Want For Christmas Is You, Mariah Carey – about €425,000 per year

4. White Christmas, Bing Crosby – about €370,000 per year

5. Last Christmas, Wham! – about €340,000 per year

6. Wonderful Christmas Time, Paul McCartney – about €295,000 per year

7. Stop the Cavalry, Jona Lewie – about €135,000 per year

8. 2000 Miles, The Pretenders – about €115,000 per year

9. Mistletoe & Wine, Cliff Richard – about €113,000 per year

10. Stay Another Day, East 17 – about €110,000 per year
