 The 7 sins in skincare

(and we make them all)

You should know that I slather myself. A puff from that ridiculously expensive tube under the eye, an emulsion of diamond-carat-gold-leaf-know-what on the cheek, a bit of scrub on the lip und so weiter. But then I lie in the specialist's chair and my skin is suddenly too dry. How is that possible? These are the mistakes we most often make with our skincare.

1. Not cleaning properly

Guilty. I think. It seems that we don't clean our faces properly. This stops the production of beautiful, clean, brand new skin cells. The easiest solution is: just do it twice. And don't sneak to bed with a bit of makeup on, because this is exactly the time when your skin is repairing and renewing. You end up with a dull appearance on your face.

2. Eye for an eye

If we're talking about your cleaning ritual, let's make a separate chapter for your eyes. Many women don't clean their eyes properly and that can lead to infections. Oh yes, and your eyelashes sometimes fall out. The horror. Lil, are you reading along too? Don't just swipe it off your face with a disposable wipe, but clean it gently yet thoroughly.

Good for the body but especially for the skin. The more you drink, the less you sweat (which is nice when you're running from catwalk to catwalk and really have no time to shower in between) and the smaller your pores will become. Read

Nice, that shelf full of creams, but the best stuff comes straight from the tap. Drink enough water, because it hydrates your skin and keeps it supple. Okay, okay, I'm going to switch to the liter bottles of Spa from now on, because my water level needs replenishing.

4. Sleeping beauty

Ha, and you thought you'd be lighter in euros if you want to look good. It's a myth, because besides water, sleep is what you need. The last time I checked, it was pretty much free. Unless you count the roof over your head, of course. But do you want that mysterious glow? Then clock in about eight hours in your bedroom. Too little sleep is fatal for beautiful skin.

5. Six, seven, eight…

If you think it doesn't matter in which order you apply something to your skin; think again. It's not a deadly sin, but the effectiveness of products decreases if you mix them up. Start with the smallest molecule. No, I had no idea either, but those are for example the eye creams. Then move on to the heavier creams. By the way, never forget to apply a good SPF, that protects your skin. Start with the moisturizer and only then apply the sunscreen.

6. Mistakes with sensitive skin

Those types with a fuzzy little skin are extra bad off. So here's a warning, because if you apply too harsh products, you make it worse. How do you see that? If your skin turns red after a hot shower or using a cream. Choose products with a calming and soothing effect. Also, be careful with excessive scrubbing, because your skin doesn't get the chance to create smooth, new cells.

7. You are what you eat

This is of course not my area, but read here for a moment what you should or shouldn't eat. It's true: the healthier you eat, the more beautiful your skin.
