This is how you keep that brown snout for as long as possible
If you are reading this, I am comfortably sitting with my bare bottom in a sunny spot in Ibiza. Just soaking up a dose of vitamin D before autumn really begins.
Did your heart also skip a beat on Thursday when you took a little walk during your lunch break and tasted a tiny bit of spring in the air?
To keep that nice color for a little longer, I will get to work with the self-tanner.
Many people are always surprised when I reveal my little secret. Because doesn’t self-tanner make you orange? That was indeed the case a long time ago. Thank goodness a lot has changed in self-tanning land. Some practice is required though. Therefore, here are some handy tips for you. This way you can also keep that nice brown snout for a little longer.
1. Scrub
If you regularly give your skin a scrub, the brown color builds up evenly. This way you remove dead skin cells and make your skin nice and smooth. You don’t have to be afraid of stains and you get a nice even color.
2. Extra
Scrub your skin extra on rough spots like your elbows, heels, and knees. Here the skin is thicker and a bit rougher, which allows the self-tanner to adhere better and you have less chance of dark spots.
3. Without oil
Do not use a scrub that contains oil. It leaves a greasy layer on your skin, causing the self-tanner to slide off your skin and thus not be absorbed well.
4. Drying
Apply the self-tanner on dry skin.
5. Avoid your hairline and eyebrows.
Self-tanner also affects the cells of your hair. So make sure to avoid your hairline and eyebrows.
6. No showering
Wait at least five hours before showering after applying self-tanner. It would be a shame to wash your color off immediately.
7. No white
Let your self-tanner absorb well before getting dressed. And just leave that white blouse in the closet...
8. Face vs. body
The skin on your body is thicker than on your face. Body tanners are more intense and give a different color on your face. So only use facial tanner and not body tanner.
9. Wash hands
And uhhh... Don’t forget to wash your hands after applying. Dark spots can form on the thicker areas of your palm, making it look like you’ve lived on the street for a week.
10. Apply
Apply Vaseline to your nails and cuticles. These spots can turn orange very quickly, and then you get those wandering hands. You don’t want that.
