Current wedding trends

You just got proposed to and the nerves are already racing through your happy body. The ring is in, but what's next? Fire up your Nespresso, break off a piece of Tony's and flop down on the couch. These are the latest wedding trends. Let the party begin.

1. A wedding dress that consists of two parts

With this wedding trend, many brides will be happy. With a ‘dress’ that consists of two parts, you can change your outfit into a completely new dress with a simple switch on your big day. Beautifully long during the day, a nice short version in the evening that you can go wild in. And after your wedding, you can just wear the top with jeans and the skirt in the summer with a cool boot. No need for the poor thing to disappear under the dust in the closet.

2. Low-key

The bigger the better? Not anymore. Small-scale with a handful of family and friends. Put that money into a good honeymoon. I would know, you know...

3. International destinations

And if you keep your wedding small and nice, you can also choose to take your loved ones to a special place abroad for you. I’m talking about Tuscany, Ibiza, or a tropical spot in the Caribbean. The buddymoon is also becoming increasingly popular; how fun is it to take your friends along to celebrate your love?

4. Touch of pink

The color of the moment: millennial pink. Pinterest is full of it, and nowadays this is also the accent color at many weddings.

5. Dancing buffet

Instead of long set tables where a five-course dinner is served, more and more space is being made for multiple small food trucks, stalls, or just a big barbecue. With a corn on the cob in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other, dance in between, and you can move on to the next course.

6. Personal notes

No perfectly arranged menu cards, labels, and name tags, but handwritten personal notes from the couple. A small effort, a big gesture. Oh, and that table setting doesn't have to be perfect either.

7. Nothing is mandatory, everything is allowed

No stiff and perfectly set tables, flower garlands, decorated chairs, and a runner to the altar. It can all be a bit looser, a bit messier, and especially not too difficult. Beautiful large field bouquets on the table, handwritten cards, plants, light strings, and a sea of candles.

8. Wedding cake

The six-layer wedding cake including a thick layer of fondant, flowers, and the bride and groom on top? So 2016. Put on the table what YOU like. Put your favorite cakes from your favorite baker on the table or that warm apple pie from your grandmother. Carrot cake, pieces of brownies, or the best cheesecake. Create your own wedding cake buffet; probably much cheaper and just as delicious.

9. DIY invites

Make your own unique wedding invitations. Use beautiful heavy quality paper for that. With stamps, you can put your names and the date on it. Handmade invitations have a personal look, and how nice is it to receive those by mail?
