Why 2017 was the absolute worst dating year ever
So you're ending the year as a single? No worries, 2017 is known as the absolute worst dating year ever. Why? Well, thanks to all those ridiculous dating trends that suddenly became popular. I thought I finally had the list complete; think again, there’s so much more. Look, as a woman you always have the option to date like men do, or we need to somehow make sure that everything below will be banned. Why was 2017 honestly the worst year for dating? Here it comes:
Ghosting
Perhaps the most well-known of them all. Dating, thinking it’s going well and suddenly you hear nada, nothing more. As if someone has disappeared from the face of the earth.
Zombieing or submarining
This is ghosting, but then coming back to life like a zombie or submarine. As if nothing happened.
Breadcrumbing
What names, I must say. Instead of suddenly hearing nothing at all, the messages become fewer and shorter.
Love bombing
You meet someone, he – as they always say in Disney movies – ‘sweeps you off your feet’, you’re constantly together, everything is fun and cozy, but as quickly as it all goes, he lets you go just as fast.
Benching
Here you’re pretty much kept on the line because the person you’re dating has multiple options. Yes, you’re just one of many and they only contact you when it suits them.
Verzachting
Sounds honestly comfortable, but it’s anything but. Here your partner, while being with you, is already looking for someone else. Tinder, Happn – he’s no stranger to all the dating apps out there. Why it’s called cushioning, I don’t quite get, but so be it.
Slow fade
You’ve been dating someone for a while and you’re actually at the point where it becomes a serious relationship , but then the other person pulls back. Maybe they’re scared, maybe they realize they don’t like you as much as they thought, and instead of being honest about it, the contact just becomes less. Almost practically the same as breadcrumbing.
Cuffing season
This actually only happens in winter and like this this is how it works.
Draking
Yesss, Drake, boy, you’ve also broken my heart once and yes, this term is named after you who has written many lyrics about the loves in your life. It doesn’t necessarily relate to a way of dating, but this is how you refer to everyone who feels the need to post sad song lyrics on their social media channels.
Stashing
This happens when you’ve been dating someone for a long time but haven’t met any important person in their life. No friends, no family. As if you’re being hidden (stashed, that is) – not a good sign.
Stealthing
I didn’t know this one and I hope to never experience it in my life, but this is sex-related. This trend involves the man removing his condom during sex without consent. Disgusting.
So, on to 2018, hopefully a more loving new year.
