Why Lilian never wants to be without a dog again
If there's one thing I can ramble on about endlessly, it's Nola. She's also known as the editorial assistant, but mainly as my bestie. Look, cats are nice, with their soft little paws and purring, but true friendship really develops between dog treats and forest walks. At least, that's how I see it. Why do I never want to be without a dog again? Well, do you have a moment, dear dog friends? Because here they come:
- Because it's good for your sense of responsibility. Don't get me wrong, but a dog (especially a puppy) is just a kind of furry baby. Just think about house training: going out to the park at night in your pajamas, feeding times, and don't forget the vet visits.
- A dog is good for your relationship. Is your guy good to your dog? Then things will be fine with that future baby too.
- A visit to the bakery for dogs; seriously, just for this reason alone, you want to go to New York. There are cupcakes, waffles, and homemade cakes. I'm already looking forward to Nola's dog birthday.
- A dog makes every photo instantly Instagram-worthy. And believe me, the vivalafrenchie hashtag is going viral.
- There is always someone at home. And how! As soon as my key turns in the lock, the party starts. Whether I walk in after five minutes or a few hours. All the cuddles and treats are gathered, and the happiest dog dance is the standard welcome committee.
- Pajamas all day? Hell no. Come on, put on those skinny jeans and let's go for a walk. Your dog is the perfect excuse to make that Fitbit proud.
- A dog makes everyone cooler. I mention Lady Gaga, Kate Moss, Ariana Grande, and Cameron Diaz, and of course Chiara Ferragni with her Frenchie..
- A dog is your living teddy bear. There are no better cuddles. Love is in the air!
- You don't have to keep secrets to yourself anymore. Dogs don't gossip, so that confidentiality agreement is well taken care of.
- Petting is stress relief. Research has shown that during a petting moment, the cuddle hormone oxytocin is released. That hormone not only lowers stress and thus your blood pressure and heart rate, but it also raises your pain threshold and even makes you more social.
- You get attention. For real. Especially from men with puppies. Seriously, women and secretly men are almost lining up for a cuddle (and for your number).
- Bought something new? Your loyal four-legged friend is more than happy to admire it. Hoping for food, but hey, I just pretend Nola is interested in those freshly shopped sneakers. I couldn't care less.
Not completely convinced yet? Then first check out the trailer for A Dog’s Purpose to warm up your dog-loving heart before you go to the movie. It's now playing in theaters and is already my favorite. And after that, you definitely want your own Nola. See you there?
