‘I have quite a love-hate relationship’

The first attend Amsterdam Fashion Week, under the leadership of Danie Bles is over. More than ever, the event was felt throughout the city and what struck me the most was the relaxed atmosphere during the fashion shows; the room was certainly not filled with only difficult-looking fashion audiences. True lovers and supporters of the designers were allowed to attend and were genuinely enthusiastic when seeing the new collections. For example, I wanted all the outfits at the 10Days show immediately (the items will be in stores in December instead of in a year, really great!) and I was hugely surprised by Maison365, the new platform from Danie Bles where a personal stylist works for you remotely. Based on a preliminary conversation, they map your fashion taste and put together a number of beautiful sets that you receive. Everything you love, you pay for and the rest you send back, ideal for ladies who have no desire or time to visit all those (web)shops . I am already looking forward to the next AFW edition.

I have quite a love-hate relationship with mascara. If I don't wear it, at least three people a day ask if I am sick and I would love to put on mascara every day, but I find applying it really a hassle. Besides the fact that I first look like a panda (there's more mascara on my eyelid than on my lashes) and I need four cotton swabs to make it decent again, I still haven't found the perfect variant. One is too clumpy, the other is too thin, and almost all of them leave a black smudge under my eyes by the end of the day. Until last week this incredibly nice little bag was delivered with the latest Le Volume Révolution de Chanel mascara. The 3D-printed brush provides the perfect dose of mascara and with each layer, you build more volume, without having to ‘dip’ your brush again. Since this week, I only have a love relationship with mascara.

When my non-Amsterdam friends plan a day in the capital, my regular tip is a lunch at The Meatless District. Whether they are vegetarian, vegan, or omnivores, at this spot you eat the most delicious vegan croquettes, Caesar salad, and vegan pastries. And now that they have opened a new location in Van Woustraat (I would love to copy/paste the finishing and decor of this place to my own home), I can now also send my friends towards the Pijp for my favorite vegan spot.
