The best food festivals in Europe

You know: I love food. Spending hours in the kitchen among pots and pans, discovering new restaurants in my own city, and enjoying long meals with friends. And now that the nice weather is coming, I am also really looking forward to the many food festivals that are back on the agenda. Wearing a flowy dress, flip-flops on my feet, a bottle of wine in hand, and spending the whole day among the food trucks. But why shouldn't we pack our bags to discover new food festivals outside our own country just like we do with music festivals? They are popping up all over Europe like mushrooms and offer something for everyone: from pasta lovers to carnivores and vegans. Which one will you check off this summer?

Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival

From August 24 to September 2
This summer you can enjoy Scandinavian cuisine for ten days in the Danish capital. Copenhagen is currently one of the top food destinations, so this one should be on your list.

A Taste of Stockholm

From June 5 to 10
With more than 350,000 visitors, this is one of the largest food festivals in the world. Not only traditional Swedish dishes are prepared, but also many top restaurants from the capital are present during the event.

Food Zurich

From May 24 to June 3
Taste, taste, taste, from street food to culinary delights. And that for eleven days straight.

Rotzooi Fermentatiefestival

September 23
During Rotzooi, everything revolves around fermented foods for one day. A hot dog with kimchi and a kombucha: check. Workshops, demos, lectures, and plenty of tasting.

Gola Gola!

From June 2 to 3
When you think of Parma, you think of... Yes, ham. But Gola Gola! is much more than that. During this food festival, more than 300 stalls are ready to celebrate Italian cuisine. The city is also recognized by UNESCO as a ‘City of Gastronomy’, so not much can go wrong.

Foodies Festival

From August 3 to 5
In the Scottish capital Edinburgh, you will not only meet famous Michelin chefs, but also see the winners of ‘Great British Bake Off’ and ‘Masterchef’ at work.

Slovak Food Festival

From May 24 to 27
Curious about what Eastern European cuisine has to offer? Then the Slovak Food Festival in the Slovak capital Bratislava might be something for you. The event takes place in the castle that towers over the city, where a giant picnic is organized in the enormous inner garden. This one is going on my list, for sure.

Leeds Indie Food

From May 10 to 28
Leeds Indie Food is a hidden gem among the many food festivals that England has to offer. If you want to stay updated on the latest trends in street food, this is definitely the right place.

Le Smmmile – Vegan Pop Festival

From September 14 to 16
The festival for vegans. You can taste dishes from all corners of the world, participate in lectures, attend demonstrations, or listen to one of the many cool bands performing.

Berlin Coffee Festival

From August 31 to September 3
Coffee, coffee, and more coffee. After Amsterdam and London, you can also visit the lovely Berlin this summer for an event centered around black gold. A paradise for baristas, but also for the average coffee fan.
