Val Thorens is the Ibiza of winter
Hey! Now that opening weekends are happening in Ibiza, the festival season is about to start, and King's Day is around the corner, I'm taking one last party in the snow. For those who didn't know, I, the girl who has never skied before, am currently, at the invitation of JBL, in the trendiest ski resort at the moment: Val Thorens. Where you can combine sun, snow, and good parties. So why is this the place to be? Let me explain:
The best parties
Let me start with that. All fun and games, of course, I'm actually here secretly just for the end parties. Thanks JBL (for the best sounds and portable bluetooth speakers). I'm rolling from Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano to Nicky Romero. Sounds better than Austria, right, après-skiing with a wienerschnitzel (you'll find me tomorrow at the BBQ in the 360 Bar) and Wolter Kroes music.
Always snow
Valtho, which I affectionately call the Ibiza of winter, is incredibly beautiful. Think of a clear blue sky, a thick layer of snow, and a view of white mountain peaks and wide slopes. Moreover, the slopes are really high, so you can still find good snow deep into the May holiday. Winning!
Beginner's luck
What makes this girl especially happy is that there are many slopes at different levels. This means that as a beginner (ahem, me) you're not stuck on the same practice slope all the time, but you can just try it a bit for real. On a real mountain. Also for the experienced skiers, the choice of slopes is huge. It's not a case of: swoosh, swoosh, you're down and already in line for the lift, no, there are wonderfully long slopes, allowing you to ski down in one go.
Val Thorens leaves you wanting more
Valtho is regularly declared the best ski area in the world, and that's understandable, because if you're not such a hero on skis, you can also enjoy a good portion of après-ski. And we're doing that tomorrow with JBL in the Snow Café Bar. And anyone who thinks you only eat burgers and fries on winter sports is very mistaken. There are many nice restaurants in the village, where you can also indulge in oysters, rosé, and cheese platters. But still, I'll just be happily found at the JBL Snowparty.
Although the party for me is over after this weekend (crying); Valtho is open until May 8, so grab that passport from the table, drum up your ski outfit, and let's go!
