Wow: how many pairs of shoes does a woman have on average
I get a little anxious when I'm anywhere near Zara because honestly: everything is nice. Do you know that infamous phase of Shopping? Sometimes nothing is to your taste and you buy nothing. And sometimes… you want everything.
I'm in that phase now. Autumn is just around the corner and that happens to be my favorite season. Not only because of the nice weather – not too hot, not too cold – but also thanks to fashion. Scarves, long coats, big sweaters, and feminine boots underneath: you can't make me happier. Especially not after a summer full of fluttery dresses and sweaty shoes. And especially those shoes. Because: never enough footwear. Too little space in the closet, but that's beside the point.
Research has shown how many pairs of shoes the average woman has in her closet. And that is: no less than 23 pairs. I don't know, but I secretly believe I go over that. Just count my sneakers, which I have in forty shades of white. Black ankle boots: eighteen models. No heel, with heel, thin heel, wide heel, leather, patent, glitter; you name it. For every occasion one, so to speak. Yet it turns out that we never wear a third of our collection at all. They just sit there collecting a bit of dust and taking up space.
Why do we spend so ridiculously much salary on unnecessary shoes? It makes us happier. No less than 95 percent of women feel happier with a new shoe. And especially ankle boots, those are our ultimate favorites, if we are to believe science. Well, as long as it makes you intensely happy, it can't be too bad, right? We'll save when we're grown up and can only fit big, soft, flexible sandals.
