Trouble in the Meiland House

Well well, what is happening over there in France? Did house friend Caroline just leave? Is the success too much for her? Was it really homesickness? Or do the angry tongues that claim there are money-wise irritations have a point?

Anyway: SBS states in a statement that Caroline has indeed returned to the Netherlands. “The Meiland family and Caroline have spent seven months in each other's company,’ the broadcaster says. “During that period, there have of course also been irritations. Additionally, her health and the absence of her family and friends made Caroline decide to Chateau Meiland leave.”

Just for the Meiland rookies among us: Carolien moved to France with Martien, Erica, and Maxime Meiland to start a bed & breakfast. The reality show surrounding the guest castle became a huge hype of De Luizenmoeder proportions. Carolien herself tells RTL Boulevard that she found the recordings tough as well. ‘You work from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM, seven days a week. I gave up everything for this, my house, everything. I am not someone who gives up easily, I knew it would be tough.’ ‘We heard somewhere that it was about money, but she doesn’t want to say anything about that,’ says show expert Aran Bade on RTL Boulevard.

According to the show’s instigator Martien, there is certainly no talk of a quarrel. ‘All this fuss again in the magazines. There is nothing going on. Bye!’ Thank goodness. That bickering was somewhat enjoyable after all. For now, we can still enjoy Caro on Mondays; her departure can be seen in the seventh episode. Boohoo.
