It is actually good news if you are forgetful

Forgetting appointments, from coffee dates to the dentist (although the latter is often on purpose), forgetting during high school that you already had class the first hour, your grandma's birthday with accompanying tea party... Forgetting everything. Why then? Well, sorry, can't help it, I'm gifted and that comes with forgetfulness. Uh, what? Yes, it's really true. So here’s your new go-to excuse if you tend to forget everything around you. Your intelligence just gets in the way. It can happen to the best of us.
And no, this is not an internet hoax, this is scientifically proven. But there is a caveat, I should mention that right away. Gifted people tend to forget relatively unimportant things. It's a matter of setting unconscious priorities. Just be careful if you use this excuse after you’ve let your best friend down. A bit awkward if you indirectly imply that they simply aren't important enough. But that one mandatory work drink that you don't feel like: go. Forget. Sorry, huh, giftedness, you know how it is.
But wait, there's more. The checklist of giftedness is actually full of excuses you can use in everyday life. Are you still in school? A characteristic of giftedness is a critical attitude towards adults, including adults with authority like teachers. Am I rude? Of course not, that's just the flip side of my intellectuality. Also, messiness seems to be a characteristic, so please; a rock-solid excuse for an unkempt room, house, or workplace.
Of course, you have to be careful with wandering around with these excuses, because giftedness is not very easy to fake. But hey, what do I know, I've already forgotten what I just tipped to you. Shall we all start a Mensa group and then forget all the meetings we have, because yes, we have better things to do.
