Oh no, Designated Survivor is stopping (probably)

Okay, so I absolutely disagree with this. Just really bad news, this. It seems very likely that a fourth season of Designated Survivor isn't happening. Honestly: I didn't see it coming, precisely because Netflix saved this series from cancellation (it was already canceled on TV after the second season) and I also didn't see it because the series is doing well on Netflix. Those seemed like two valid reasons to produce a fourth season, but unfortunately not.
The source of all this is (unfortunately) also quite reliable: lead actor Kiefer Sutherland. According to him, there are two reasons why season 4 isn't happening. First, the contracts at Netflix are structured differently than TV contracts, which means many actors already have other work. Also, there are too many alternatives being offered on Netflix, causing the series not to be watched well (enough). Right, I understand that first reason, but that second one? I think all my fellow Netflix viewers are just fans of Designated Survivor and it’s constantly in the Trending category, so it’s definitely being watched, right? Sutherland himself gives the advice: ‘I think it’s time for everyone to look for something else.‘ Sounds a bit bitter (the viewers don’t want to look for something else at all), so do I still see a glimmer of hope that season numero quattro might still happen? A girl can dream.
So Netflix, if you’re reading (hey, it could happen): here are a few series you might want to cancel instead so you can give us this fourth season: What/If (unfortunately couldn’t meet the high expectations), Back with the Ex (never watched or had any desire for) or You Me Her (couldn’t really keep me interested). Just a few suggestions. Do what you want with them. In the meantime, I’ll start a petition.
