SEARCH FOR COVER: THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE GETS A SECOND SEASON

It was perhaps the most popular Netflix series of last year: The Haunting Of Hill House. In the Netherlands perhaps partly because our pride Michiel Huisman was in it, but worldwide it was also streamed quite well. And you must be a very big player if you managed to get through this series without covering your eyes, because it was definitely scary. Even Michiel's handsome face couldn't distract you from that. All those hidden ghosts in the episodes, I still encounter them in my nightmares from time to time.
And that will probably remain the case for a while, as a second season is coming, which is of course very good news. More Michiel Huisman on your screen is always good news. And yes, let's immediately remove that doubt: the cast remains the same. So Victoria Pedretti will also be seen again (you know, the new Beck from the second season of YOU). The location will change, as they are moving from Hill House to Bly Manor. This season will also be based on a book, namely The Turning of the Screw by American Henry James, which dates back to 1898. So if you're into old English or want some spoilers, you should dive into the library. But thou have been warned for the sleepless nights.
We still need to be patient for a year, The Haunting of Bly Manor will only be available on Netflix in 2020. And let me tell you, I have a few good tips to fill this year. The pride of the Netherlands Michiel Huisman is also a favorite of Netflix, it seems. You can rewatch The Age Of Adeline) (With Serena van der Woodsen – also known as Blake Lively) or start Orphan Black, where he also plays a role. If you haven't seen that series yet, it's definitely a recommendation. And all seasons are already online, so you can binge the whole series without shame. No judging from my side.
No judging towards me either, please, because what am I going to do? Something that all Videoland members should do after me, namely watch Volle Maan. Yes, you read that right, this gem is just on Videoland and has all the ingredients for the perfect Dutch film. Singing Daan Schuurmans? Oh definitely. Gothic, emo Georgina Verbaan with a rat as her best friend and pet? Absolutely. Add a Chantal Janzen, a muscular Cas Jansen, a bespectacled Teun Kuilboer, and Ellen ten Damme as a rock chick, and the cast of Volle Maan is complete. The best part of this film is of course the Twente accents that literally no member of the cast has mastered. Quite an achievement. By the way, I have never understood what the added value of this accent was. Especially not when they have a sailboat, where do they get that from? The last time I checked, Twente is not by the sea. Anyway: Best. Dutch. Movie. Ever.
If you're not really into movies and series, that's fine too. In that case, check out the hits of Michiel Huisman's former band Fontane. In the category ‘do we still know him?‘: one and one is two, two and one is not all one. Poetic wonder you are Michiel, don’t ever change.
