The 10 things you want to know before you start The Politician

The politician series Netflix

A very good Monday morning, fellow Netflix viewers. I think this is the week we officially say goodbye to our great friend the sun (until next year) and the raincoat becomes its worthy replacement. That we welcome those autumn sessions on the couch with just one or two episodes too many. And guilt-free, because you don't have to go outside for the nice weather. Secretly, I actually think that's really great, so I already had that session this weekend, resulting in now a tip The Politician, which came out last Friday. Lists are so clear, so here are 10 points why you should also watch The Politician.

1. He doesn't take himself too seriously. Nice exaggerated characters, a series with a message but also a lot of self-mockery. A good combo, if you ask me.

2. Laughing, crying, irritations: you find them all in The Politician. Main character Payton Hobart (Ben Platt) doesn't call himself a good person, but someone who wants to do good things. The best decisions don't always come from that.

3. I already mentioned laughing, but if you, like me, can enjoy some dark humor and satire from time to time, then you will definitely appreciate this.

4. With Ryan Murphy as the creator, you can't go wrong. A resume like American Horror Story, Glee, The People vs. OJ Simpson (quite a few genres that are quite different, by the way). Expectations were therefore high.

5. With such a cast, by the way, also not. Gwyneth Paltrow (and her hubby Brad Falchuk behind the scenes), Lucy Boynton and Zoey Deutch, to name a few.

6. In a time when Trump is the POTUS (hopefully not for long), it is also quite relevant. How you come to power through deception, lying, and especially cunning. This Payton wouldn't be out of place in his team. Motivated enough.

7. It's addictive. Yes, really. Eight episodes of about three quarters of an hour each and I watched them effortlessly. It should be, since this has been the biggest Netflix deal in the history of ever: three hundred million. Then you can definitely release something binge-worthy.

8. Season 2 has already been announced and you don't want to fall behind right away, of course. Seems obvious to me.

9. With a solid passing grade on most sites (a 7.5 on IMDb for example), it's also a series with quite a bit of quality. And that's not always the case with comedies.

10. Do we really need one last reason? Okay: we deserve a nice series or two (or three) to get through our autumn- and winter blues with. We earned this.
