Update
The new series from the creators of La Casa de Papel is available to binge on Netflix starting today (May 15). If you're not going out to dinner or ending up at the bar this weekend, for example, you know what to do. And read here what you can expect...

Yes, when the creators of La Casa de Papel announce they are coming out with a new series, I get excited right away. I think everyone does. And the expectations are naturally high as well. Our patience will be tested for a while, as this new series will probably not come out until 2020 – they have just started filming as we speak. The name is already known: White Lines. My first association is that it will probably have something to do with drugs, and given the location and the plot, that might just be correct.

They are filming in the Balearics, on Ibiza and Mallorca. Quite a nice acting job, as they will be there from June to October. I would sign up for such a work trip too. And they are mainly on Ibiza; White Lines is about a DJ from Manchester who has been missing for twenty years. His body is found on Ibiza after all this time, and his sister decides she wants answers about his death. So, a ticket to Ibiza.

But yes, during her search for those answers, she also ends up in the Ibiza scene: partying, drinking, and drugs. In the press release from Netflix, they write that the female lead seeks and crosses her own boundaries when she visits the island, not entirely unexpectedly of course. She will misbehave in the Ushuaïa, I predict that right here. I am very curious about how they will portray Ibiza in this series. I have been there often (like many Dutch people) and often find that series and movies depict it totally differently. However, I have quite a bit of trust in Netflix and in La Casa de Papel, so that should be fine. I assume that my longing for Ibiza will be stimulated again. Might as well book a ticket then.

White Lines will come out in 2020, but we will be entertained for a while. An episode lasts about sixty minutes and there will be ten of them. Good for ten hours of viewing pleasure. Okay, entertained for a while... It will simply be a binge-worthy Sunday. By the way, the lead role will be played by Laura Haddock. To be honest, not a familiar name for me, but IMDb tells me she was in Guardians of the Galaxy and in Transformers. Netflix has also announced that the production is being done by the same team as the team of The Crown. Also definitely not the least.

So, what do we say? Maybe we should all book a last-minute return ticket to Ibiza (if you haven't done that yet), in the spirit of ‘preparation for a new series addiction’? I think that's a great excuse.
