The new romantic comedy you want to see on Netflix

Yes, just a little longer and we can enjoy a good old-fashioned romcom on the couch again. Now I can watch movies like To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Kissing Booth (which I've been eagerly waiting for part 2) countless times calmly, something new is always welcome of course. And that news comes on May 31 and it's called Always Be My Maybe. Sounds sweet already, and it is. Love it.
Always Be My Maybe tells the story of two childhood friends, Sasha and Marcus. Sasha has become a successful chef and Marcus an aspiring musician. They lost sight of each other over the years and meet again 15 years later... And yes, you can probably guess the rest. Marcus immediately falls head over heels for Sasha again, but whether it's mutual is still a question, but I guess it is. It's just a romcom after all, happy ending guaranteed. Andnnn grab the popcorn.
The trailer has just been released by Netflix. In it, we can already sing along to Always Be My Baby by Mariah Carey, so that's a good start. We also immediately know what the title is based on. Furthermore, the atmosphere is also a nice throwback, including flashbacks with braces, tight braids, glasses, and crop tops. Oh, the good old days.
The lead roles are played by Ali Wong and Randall Park. Not really well-known names (at least for me), but that might change after this Netflix film. In the meantime, Noah Centineo has also become a household name thanks to our favorite streaming service. By the way, IMDb tells me that Keanu Reeves also has a role in this (although his character remains quite mysterious), so I'm curious about that too. The film is set in San Francisco, and that already puts you ahead 3-0 with me. Netflix gave the green light for this film in August 2017, so they certainly had enough time to make something nice out of it. And those Netflix Originals films have been doing really well lately, so my expectations are quite high.
Do you need some Netflix inspiration to hold out until May 31? Then definitely check out Someone Great which was released last week. A really nice feel-good movie that's also funny. I love it. And if you haven't seen it yet: The Perfect Date. Also so sweet and oh so predictable, but I'm a total fan. And I also want to go on a date with Noah Centineo, that's definitely something that has become very clear to me after that movie.
