The Spy: new Netflix addiction in 3, 2, 1…

Ali G is back in da house, y’all. Well, the actor is. Yes yes, I know, something about a dead canary. But Sacha Baron Cohen is still a cool guy. I felt a bit less for Brüno, but Borat even more. I think Mr. Cohen is a bit fed up with the fact that everyone sees him as a clown figure (apologies for that), because secretly he can act really well. So it’s completely justified that he scored a leading role in the latest Netflix hit.
This Netflix hit is called The Spy and the trailer has just dropped. I can already predict that you won’t see a hint of Ali G anymore. I think it’s a very good trailer, and it absolutely makes me curious about the entire series. Before you check it out yourself below, I’ll tell you what the plot is. Just a note beforehand: it’s based on a true story. How accurately they have dealt with that truth, I unfortunately don’t know, but it looks intense in any case.
Eli Cohen, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, is a Mossad agent who goes undercover in Syria in the 1960s. This also means he leaves his wife and children behind in Israel. A pretty tough task (his wife knows nothing), in which he turns out to be quite good. This also means that Eli increasingly struggles to distinguish his alter ego from his real life. An exciting series, with one of the best trailers I’ve seen in ages (only that of Joker wins this year). I predict: this series will be a success. Undercover 2.0. No camping and polder drug barons.
The series will consist of six episodes and will all be available to watch from September 6. So just over a week, which I think is perfectly fine to wait. Check the trailer yourself to get as excited as I am. New binge addiction in 3, 2, 1…
