The 7 coolest hotels with Northern Lights guarantee

In the bucket list category, this is definitely one of mine. The Northern Lights. Magical Northern Lights, if I believe the people who have seen it (lucky bastards). Very strange, but for some reason, this has been a bucket list item that has been on my list for a very long time, ever since I first heard about the Northern Lights, but it has never happened. Another item that is the case is the Trans-Siberian Express. Could it be the cold? Because about six years ago, I also added Iceland to my bucket list and that hasn't happened either. So probably indeed because of that cold. Has this been on your bucket list for a while too, and are you also planning to actually do something about it now? Check out the coolest and most unique hotels where you want to stay. Was the Northern Lights not yet on your bucket list? Okay, that’s possible… Just Google it and you’ll be convinced.
The 7 coolest hotels for the Northern Lights
1. Golden Crown - Levin Iglut (Finland/Finnish Lapland)
Yes. Yes, yes, yes. This hotel is so cool. First of all, you sleep in igloos. Calm down, heated igloos. Made of glass. You get it: a bizarrely beautiful view. Oh yes, there are also jacuzzis. And a restaurant (also made of glass, by the way) where you absolutely want to dine at least once.

2. ION Luxury Adventure Hotel (Iceland)
Let’s – unfortunately – be a bit realistic. You can arrange everything well: go at the right time, book a beautiful hotel, stay awake all day and night, and still the Northern Lights may not appear. Bad luck. That’s why it’s nice that if you do have that bad luck, there’s plenty to do in your surroundings. This hotel (about an hour from Reykjavik) is close to the Geysir hot springs, organizes rafting trips and glacier tours. So no time for boredom.

3. Arctic ThreeHouse Hotel (Finland/Finnish Lapland)
In terms of unique accommodations, Finland is doing quite well so far. Aren’t igloos your thing? Maybe these treehouses are, they are really too cute. And no, you don’t have to climb the trees yourself, they are minimalist square cottages that ‘hang’ above the ground. Not literally in a tree, but very nice and with a panoramic window so you can see the entire surroundings.

4. Hurtigruten (Norway)
This is not a hotel, but a gigantic ship. In terms of Northern Lights guarantee, you might be best off here, because this ship is always on the move. For the ultimate experience, you take the twelve full days. Through the fjords, you can even go kayaking (so cool), heading towards Antarctica, spotting penguins… Okay, you might not come back all sunkissed and tanned, but this vacation seems much more impressive than a week on the Spanish coast.

5. The 5 Million Star Hotel (Iceland)
Appropriate name, because the views at this hotel are indeed worth five million. Zero air pollution, you sleep in a glass bubble, in the middle of the woods: wow. Because it’s in the middle of the woods, it’s not so easy to reach. That’s why this million-dollar spot can only be booked in combination with various tours.

6. Kakslauttanen (Finland)
Okay, one more igloo then. Just because it’s so fun. These (again in Finland) are also real recommendations. Most igloos have their own sauna, not exactly a luxury you can do without, because it gets particularly cold here. When you’re not gazing at the Northern Lights from your bed, you can go looking for reindeer on a snowmobile. That’s also a bucket list item of mine. Those animals are said to be so big and impressive, I want to see that with my own eyes.

7. Santa Claus Holiday Village (Finland)
Fun: Google this hotel and take a look at the location name. ‘Located in: village of Santa Claus.’ Honestly, a bit of a Christmas fan must take this, right? Especially if you have kids, this is a playground paradise. You can rent cottages or a suite and everything, but absolutely everything, is in Christmas spirit. They also make it quite easy for you in terms of arranging everything. Transfer from the airport and excursions like – of course – seeing the Northern Lights.
