This is the most beautiful hotel in New York

Do you know that scene from Scent of a Woman where Al Pacino (I’ve been told that this is actually the only movie where Al Pacino and Robert De Niro share a scene, as the two hate each other) dances the tango? That is in hotel The Pierre, one of the most famous hotels in New York. And one of the most expensive. But I saw a ‘deal’. That should be written in thick quotation marks because you still pay 500 euros per night, but if that is normally 800, you can comfortably speak of a deal.
Look at the photos and you want to go to New York NOW. In the meantime, I’ll whisper some nice facts to you that you can flaunt when you’re sitting at the bar there.
- The Pierre was founded by Charles Pierre Casalasco, a boy who grew up in French Corsica and worked there in restaurant Ajaccio. He then moved to hotel Anglais in Monte Carlo and studied Haute Cuisine in Paris. He ended up in New York via London, where he got to know the Morgans and the Vanderbilts.
- He bought the building for 15 million dollars.
- The building was estimated at 150 million last year.
- There was a robbery at The Pierre where 27 million was stolen. Apparently (I’ve just been told all this) it was later recovered.
- Elizabeth Taylor, Aristotle Onassis, Mohamed Al-Fayed, and Yves Saint Laurent were all permanent residents of the hotel.
- The hotel started with 100 employees and now there are 1000.
- Charles Pierre wanted the last rivet that was driven into the building to be made of gold.
- At the top of the building is a triplex apartment that Forbes says is among the eight most expensive homes in the world. For a hefty 125 million, you get 3000 square meters filled with five bedrooms, a library, four terraces, a wine cellar, a ballroom, a staircase made of Belgian marble, and so on.
- Gigi Hadid was recently staying at The Pierre when she went to the Met Gala.
- And we are going soon too. Right?
