Falling in love is like a virus for women

If you really have it bad, you can feel absolutely terrible. Nauseous, unable to eat, unable to sleep, feeling scorching hot, freezing cold... Being in love is certainly not just roses and butterflies.
Research now shows that being in love is no picnic for women. Sorry, romantics among us, but actually being in love is somewhat compared to a virus. Women who are head over heels notice the same physical changes as people who are dealing with a virus. So you can literally feel sick when you, let's say, are very happy.
In a new study, there were women in love examined and what turns out? These lovebirds who are hopping on pink clouds produce a certain protein that normally only exists in your body when your body is trying to fight an infection. And your body starts to fight against that ‘virus’, which isn't even there. As a result, you soon feel flu-like, hungover, rough. Being a little ‘love sick’ has never been more true. You can't help it. It's all the fault of his blue eyes, muscular arm, and his lovely mane of hair. Help.
The good news is: the longer you stay with this person, the faster you'll feel fit again. The less intensely crazy you are about someone, the better it is for you, actually. Then you can function a bit more normally – which is nice if you just want to go to work. Sounds a bit unromantic, but make it a bit boring ‘loving’, instead of ‘oh my god, I can't sleep next to you because you breathe so beautifully’.
Whether this also applies to men, that they also feel miserable when they like someone, still needs to be researched. We can hope so, right, because come on, as soon as Mr. stubs his little toe, it's already crying time. So let that love for us leave a bit of an impression on that body. Fair enough.
