3 ways you can help Beirut

Beirut came to all of us. Images of the explosion spread around the world, rescue teams were sent, and the Prime Minister of Lebanon submitted the resignation of the government after intense protests from the Lebanese. 154 people lost their lives due to the explosion, over 5000 people are injured, 300,000 men, women, and children no longer have a roof over their heads, and to this day hundreds of people are missing.

It is a week later, Lebanon is in a bad state, but what can we do from the Netherlands to help the people in Beirut? The most concrete action now is: donate.

1. Via Giro 555
The national collection point to help the people of Beirut is Giro 555. On Friday, August 14, the Cooperating Relief Organizations are organizing a national action day. So far, 2.2 million euros have been raised.

2. Donate to the Lebanese Red Cross
It is possible to donate to the Red Cross in the Netherlands, but directly to Lebanon is also an option. The Red Cross uses your donation for humanitarian aid on the ground.

3. Donate to Impact Lebanon
An organization in Lebanon itself, which set up a fundraising campaign within a few hours that gained worldwide attention. The team monitors every minute of every day which organizations need money the most for supplies.
