Beach tents that are already fun now

beach bars in winter

Yaaahaaa, finally that sun is coming out a bit again. Thank goodness, because it has taken quite a long time. Way too long, I think. But I also have a huge winter depression every winter, so I've been counting down since November. Even a little Ciara or Dennis can't ruin my mood. As long as the days get longer and there's some sun every now and then. Because how nice is it that your alarm goes off in the morning and it's already light instead of leaving the house at eight in pitch darkness? So depressing. But well, those days are thankfully over and it's almost spring break. For people with kids, that is. I just have to keep working, but I still have a vacation feeling. And so I want to to the beach. go to the beach in the Netherlands. Difficult? Not at all. A number of beaches are already nice and open (or even stay open all year round) and it's already prrrrima to hang out there. Sooo let’s go to the beach-each.

Tijn Akersloot (Zandvoort)
For years one of the most popular beach bars in the Netherlands and I understand why. Not too much fuss or special things, and I mean that positively. Just a nice no-nonsense place where there's always a nice atmosphere. And by the way, this one is really open all year round, so if my winter depression gets too much, I can come here in November and/or December to blow off some steam.

De Republiek (Bloemendaal)
I generally don't find Bloemendaal such a nice beach and the beach bars neither. Except for De Republiek, because that's nice. Not too long ago, this spot got a huge makeover and wow, it has really become very beautiful. Oh yes: De Republiek in Bloemendaal is also open all year round. Yippee.

Timboektoe (Wijk aan Zee)
As much as I don't like Bloemendaal, I really like Wijk aan Zee. In the ‘high season’ (or the scarce real beach days we have in the Netherlands each year) it's busy here too, but still always just a bit less than, for example, in Zandvoort. At least that's the impression I have. And I also have that feeling of peace and zen at Timboektoe, whether I'm there in winter or summer. It's just a really nice spot.

Hart Beach (Scheveningen)
I can't surf and I'm not planning to ever be able to, but that whole surfer vibe is always so cool, right? If you love that too, you absolutely want to go to Hart Beach in Scheveningen. Nice living room atmosphere and there's a surf school there. Inside it's nice and warm and you have a great view of the sea and the surfers who still brave those waves even in the coldest weather. And then I'm inside with a glass of red wine. Totally fine.

Club Zand (Castricum aan Zee)
If you like more liveliness, then this spot is definitely for you. Every Friday is Food Market Friday, where you can choose your own ingredients and then your meal is prepared fresh right in front of you. And also with live music. Love it.

Aloha Beach (Wijk aan Zee)
Yes, I already said it, but I really like Wijk aan Zee, hence two tips in this list for this beach. In the colder months like February and March, they still organize plenty of events here, such as movie nights or sports classes (boxing. On the beach. So heavy), but also comedy nights. Never a dull moment.
