Ellen DeGeneres speaks out for the first time

‘I want to say I’m so sorry,’ says Ellen at the beginning of her show, which started again this week. Her own show, which has only been in the news negatively in recent months. Staff were said to be treated poorly (people weren't even allowed to look Ellen in the eyes) and especially Ellen as a person was said to be anything but pleasant.
This all happened when the show was on a break between seasons. Everyone was therefore incredibly curious about how that next season would start. Would Ellen address it? It was almost inevitable.
And yes, she indeed addressed it. Buzzfeed wrote extensively about her speech at the beginning of the show. A speech that, to be fair, comes across as very sincere. In which she takes responsibility for the events. But also in which she says she is indeed the person we see on TV.
Because that was also a big point among all the allegations: Ellen would only be nice when the cameras are rolling. And they are of course rolling during this speech as well. I am very curious if she can ever fully restore her positive image, but this is at least a strong start.
