For all fans of Love Is Blind: Dating Around 2 is now online

In a far, far past, in a world without Love Is Blind, Netflix already had a number of dating series. They didn't get nearly as far as Love Is Blind, that much is clear of course. But honestly... I found some of them quite enjoyable. Or rather, especially Dating Around I found very enjoyable. And I don't get the impression that it was really a hit for Netflix and I've never understood why. Maybe they were just a bit too early, before the Netflix dating hype became big. Anyway, Dating Around gets a second chance, because that second season is now online. YES.
The idea is as follows: one single person goes on dates for five consecutive days, each day with a different person. On the sixth day, he/she must choose who they had the best connection with, and that person gets an extra date. It might sound a bit standard and not exciting, but people, it is so enjoyable. And especially the dates. Last year there were people… Very nice, but also some really strange ones. One who went on a date with a — at that time — unsuspecting woman, only to treat her completely sexist. She of course didn't take that, to which he said she should figure it out and stormed out of the place. DRAMA.
And also particularly nice are the couples who had a genuine connection. The first season came out in 2019 so I'm definitely going to do a little internet stalking to see who is still together. I just guess that maybe no one is, but it was great TV and that's what it's about.
Dating Around is a bit sweeter and more innocent than Love Is Blind, especially when they came out of the pods. It does come across as quite authentic and real, and not those Insta-fame people who participate for the followers instead of for love. I did find that a bit of a downside of Too Hot To Handle for example. And what I find nice is that there are so many different types of people participating in this dating series: men and women with all sorts of different backgrounds and different sexual preferences. Really a nice watch, this.
And the good news is, I hope, that you might not have seen season 1 yet. And that means you can binge two seasons. In terms of time, it's actually not that bad: each episode lasts less than half an hour.
