Holy shit: is this what airplane seats are going to look like?

Airplane seats

You have to do something if you have time to spare and you're an aircraft interior designer. Since sitting cramped in a one-and-a-half-meter economy is not really the intention, behold: safe airplane seats. At least, if it’s up to the company Avioninteriors. They have been designing the interiors of multiple airplanes for over 40 years and are now sharing an example on Instagram of what ‘safe’ airplane seats might look like. Between all the passengers, there will be a transparent screen (a.k.a. ‘the Glassafe’) and in each row, the middle seat is turned around. I must say: if you’re not really into contact with others on the plane anyway: this is quite okay, in terms of privacy. But, you still breathe in the same space, right? And the person sitting by the window still has to pass by the rest if they want to walk? And you still share small bathrooms with hundreds of people? Eh well, anyway: opinions are divided on this. Judge for yourself.

POLTRONA “JANUS” Like two-faced Janus, the god of Ancient Rome, this proposal is distinguished by the reverse position of the center seat of the triple to ensure the maximum isolation between passengers seated next to each other while maintaining the same comfort. While passengers seated on the extreme seats, aisle and wall side, continue to be positioned in the flight direction as usual, the passenger sitting in the center is facing backwards. ’Janus“ is a two-faced seat that allows for the separation of all three passengers with a shield that isolates them from each other, creating a protective barrier for everyone. Each passenger has their own space isolated from others, even from people who walk through the aisle. Each place of the ”Janus“ seat is surrounded on three sides by a shield high enough to prevent the propagation of breath to occupants of adjacent seats. The materials used in the ”Janus“ seat are chosen for their easy cleaning and safe hygienization. ”JANUS“ SEAT Like two-faced Janus, the god of Ancient Rome, this proposal is distinguished by the reverse position of the center seat of the triple to ensure the maximum isolation between passengers seated next to each other.
