Musical about Diana is coming to Netflix

MUSICAL ABOUT DIANA COMING TO NETFLIX

Ohhh, this is going to be a hit, mark my words. There might be tears flowing. Given the subject, I know that for sure. And it makes me personally very happy because it's a musical. Okay okay, I just mean to say that Diana: A True Musical Story is coming to Netflix . In 2021.

But there is more, because I think it's going to be a fairly over the top musical with a lot of dancing and little decor. Huh? Here's how it goes. This musical premiered on March 31 on Broadway in New York and had to stop after a week and a half due to — it couldn't be otherwise — the coronavirus. Bummer.

And now it's just waiting to see when they can continue performing (plan A is now May 25, 2021) and so they came up with plan B: just blast the whole musical on Netflix. A great plan, and we can expect it at the beginning of next year.

When when I was in New York visiting a Broadway musical was on my bucket list and then I went to Chicago. In terms of expectation management, it went a bit wrong at first: I expected a musical like Van den Ende Productions, with gigantic sets and matching costumes. Well, there was nothing like that to be found. And so I discovered that the ‘real’ Broadway musicals have minimal decor.

I had to get used to that for about five minutes and then I was sold, because I was really completely impressed. Diana: A True Musical Story will soon be recorded at the Longacre Theatre in New York, without an audience of course. I am really so curious about the music. If you're not really a musical fan but can tolerate them, just skip this one. There are actually 23 (!) songs in it.

In terms of story, it will mainly revolve around the private life of Diana and the love triangle she found herself in involuntarily: between Charles, Camilla, and herself. Her death will be discussed, but you won't get that from the actors on stage.

Since the Broadway show ran for a week and a half, there are already reviews to be found online and they are quite good. Well, I can't say anything other than that I'm really looking forward to this.
