Romcom alert: Love, Guaranteed on Netflix

Love, Guaranteed-Netflix

This is going to be so delightfully superficial and predictably enjoyable, mark my words. You probably know how this movie is going to end by the second minute. Shall I make a prediction? The female protagonist ultimately falls for the male protagonist and they live happily ever after. Groundbreaking. Never. Ever. Happened. But hey, what does it matter, this new romcom just looks nice so we’re going to watch it anyway.

This romcom is called Love, Guaranteed and we have to wait another week because it comes out on September 3 on Netflix. And yes, there is actually a storyline (even though you already know how it’s going to end): Susan (Rachael Leigh Cook, aka the nerd from She’s All That who became a bombshell just by taking off her glasses and styling her hair, also groundbreaking) is a lawyer whose firm is going through a bit of a rough patch. Therefore, she has to take on some smaller, sillier cases like that of Nick (Damon Wayans Jr. from New Girl).

His case is quite remarkable: he wants to sue a dating website that guarantees love. You guessed it: that love didn’t work out for him and so he wants his money back. Because yes, a guarantee is a guarantee and he is still single so something went wrong there. Susan takes on his case and coincidentally she is a single attractive woman and he is also not bad to look at. Well, you can guess the ending…

To get a bit of an idea of how predictable it will be: it’s from the same makers and writers as Falling Inn Love. Yes, you remember that well: that was the movie about a girl who won a whole inn in New Zealand and was made up entirely of clichés. Oh, and a cute goat. That was the only funny thing in the movie.

Do I sound a bit negative now? I think so, but don’t get me wrong: I’m going to watch this right away on September 3. I absolutely do not feel too good for a movie where I don’t have to use a single brain cell. In fact, I love it.
