Take this vitamin pill and your hangover will disappear in no time

Nowadays, I'm already feeling rough after 2.5 glasses of red wine. Honestly: I'm getting old. I'm deteriorating.

And so I limit my alcoholic treats to the absolutely necessary drinks that I really can't avoid. Birthdays of best friends. Outings with best friends. A special dinner with my parents. A regular date with my husband. Well, that dry January I never understood anyway. In any case, I never understood that..

What’s less fun about all those activities with a drink or three, four: the hangover. But something new has been discovered. Scientists now suggest that you could take a special vitamin pill to make your hangover disappear. The miracle cure that makes your day is called ‘red ginseng’. In Korea and other Asian countries, it is already widely consumed, usually not for hangovers, but to keep the mind fresh and fruity and to improve memory. By the way, you can also drink it in a drink, that ‘red ginseng’. Maybe that's more fun, you stay stylish.

What was researched? In a study, both men and women were divided into two groups. There were 25 healthy people, and they were all given 100 milliliters of whiskey, which contained 40 percent alcohol. They were not allowed to consume any other alcoholic beverages. Five minutes after they finished the drink, half of them received red ginseng to drink and the other half a placebo drink that looked similar. No one knew what they were drinking. A week later, they did the same experiment, only the groups were switched: so those who first received red ginseng then got a placebo. Then they had to compare their hangovers. Those who received the vitamin boost clearly had less trouble with hangover symptoms. They also had less alcohol in their blood, which is due to the antioxidants in the vitamin that break down alcohol.

And it's not that strange. In East Asia (Korea, China, Japan), the root of ginseng has been used for thousands of years for health complaints such as lack of appetite (uh, how?), palpitations, insomnia, shortness of breath, impotence, and infertility. And from now on, it's also handy for us Westerners for... hangovers.

Now you’re probably wondering one thing, I get it. How do you get this as soon as possible? Good news: you don’t have to go to Korea for it. It's available in the Netherlands, just google it and buy it. By the way, it's quite expensive: 15 sachets of powder for 100 euros, just so you know. Nih Haoh Hallelujah. But yes, it really works, so if you have a very wet January
