Three quarters of people miss their colleagues the most

These are unprecedented times, for you, for me. For us at Amayzine too. We are not allowed to go to the office. The editorial team remains empty: we are all working from home.
At your work, it won't be very different. These are bizarre things happening right now, with the whole world at home in quarantine. Suddenly, you are looking at the same face of your partner all day instead of your friendly colleague on the left. And you miss those juicy anecdotes from the colleague on the other side of your desk. You miss people. You miss your family, friends, everyone... But who we miss the most in the corona crisis are our colleagues, it turns out.
At least 75 percent of people find it boring without colleagues: we miss the nice coffee talk in the hallway or in the kitchen at the office. We miss the chit-chat, a joke, a glass of wine after work. Almost half miss the daily chatter the most. And we don't all find working from home equally chill. About 15 percent say they find the mandatory working from home in isolation absolutely nothing. They want to go to work. I get that well a little bit, you know.
So how are we working from home now, in times of crisis?
- 50% is just sitting with the laptop at the kitchen table
- 36% of people have their own office at home
- 10% of people work on the couch or in bed
- 33% watches more TV since the crisis started
- 51% actually likes working from home
I don't know if I like it. I also have two kids crawling and climbing around me, crying and being annoying, which certainly doesn't help productivity. But on the other hand, kids also bring some coziness into the house. A good rhythm: my real-life alarms go off every day around half past six, you know. No worries. But I do understand this research that three-quarters of people miss their colleagues. I miss them too. Their stories, their fussing in front of the mirror, their chatter at the desk, their gossip, laughter, rambling about nothing... It's strange that now many things you always took for granted, like being able to go to work, are now very valuable. Now we long to be allowed to go to work, but for now, we still can't.
The day the editorial team can open its doors again from Mark, we will hang up a lot of streamers, dear Amayzines? And then we will make it a freedom party. Just because something as obvious as working outside the home makes you very happy.
