What's going on with Britney Spears?

You probably haven't missed it: #freebritney is trending. For a while now. Because fans are quite worried about her well-being. And honestly, even I am worried about her well-being. Because a simple look at her Instagram shows that something doesn't seem quite right there. And that is then on Instagram, let alone what is happening behind closed doors. And that has been going on since 2008; when Britney lost control over... Well, over actually everything.
Just a flashback: 2007 was not a great year for Britney. We all remember the incident where Brit shaved her head and then attacked a paparazzi's car with an umbrella. In other words: a complete breakdown. As a result, in 2008, the judge decided that she would fall under the conservatorship of her father. In other words: he would decide everything for her. And that has been the case for twelve years now. TWELVE. And when I say everything, I mean everything.
So her performances in Vegas that she did in recent years, she never gave permission for those herself. That was arranged by her father. When Britney's father became ill and was no longer fit to make decisions about her on his own, he gave part of that power to her manager. She was not allowed to decide that either. And that manager, of course, primarily wants to make money off Britney. Everything she did in terms of work was determined by others, and she just had to show up and do what they said.
Besides her schedule and music, she also has no power over her possessions and finances. Getting a coffee at Starbucks? She needs permission from her father for that. The ride there? Same thing. Really bizarre. Britney is now 38 years old and has had zero control over her own life since she was 26. And her children? She has zero control over them as well. She shared custody with Kevin Federline, and they split the children 50/50 of the time. Under supervision in her case, then. That custody has recently been reduced to 70/30, to Britney's disadvantage. This was reduced because Britney's father allegedly attacked her son Jayden.
In case you haven't realized it yet: Britney's father, Jamie, does not seem like a very pleasant person to me. Britney's mother thinks so too and filed a lawsuit to give Britney back control over her life. The arrangement was supposed to expire in August anyway, but it may be extended. Meanwhile, Britney has reportedly been unhappy for years and feels trapped in her own home.
That this has a significant impact on your mental state seems more than logical to me. But lately she has been acting just a bit crazier on Instagram than usual. And you can say what you want, but her fans are at least very loyal. ‘Wear a yellow shirt if you’re in need of help’ received a lot of responses under a post. And yes, a yellow shirt was put on, the conspiracy theory supporters went into overdrive and #freebritney went completely wild. Well, I must honestly admit, when you see those videos... I do think she needs some help. Or maybe it's as simple as just being allowed to leave your house whenever you want and go shopping like a normal person. With your own earned money. That you can just spend on whatever you want and whenever you want.
