Mel B shocks with new campaign

Wow, I was shocked to death. Is this seriously Mel B and what on earth happened here? Her ex-husband Stephen (with whom she has her nine-year-old daughter Madison) probably thought the same. The two have been embroiled in a fierce custody battle for some time now, and you could say that the contact between them is very mediocre.

They were married from 2007 to 2017 and lived together in LA. Belafonte still lives there, but Mel B has returned to England to live with her mother. That would also be a bit of a necessity: all the costs associated with this long-running lawsuit have become too much for her. As a result, she packed her bags and ended up back in her parents' house. Mainly a decision based on financial grounds.

Mel B has also stated that she wanted an ocean between her and her ex-husband because it was necessary to get out of the violent relationship between her and Stephen; allegations he has always denied. Belafonte is, to put it mildly, not exactly happy with the role Mel B plays in a new campaign by Women’s Aid to raise awareness about domestic violence.

And I must say: I also find it intense imagery, you know. They seem to have been so shocking that her nine-year-old daughter now does not want to see her mother anymore. According to papers submitted to the court — but which have of course ended up in the hands of TMZ again — her daughter has become so upset by the images that she does not want to see her mother now and prefers to stay with dad in LA all summer.

Mel B had received permission from the court for Madison to travel alone, through a program from Lufthansa. This way, one of her parents does not have to accompany her every time to bring her from Los Angeles to England.

Of course, it is very good that attention is being drawn to domestic violence and that Mel B is committed to it. ‘As a woman who has gone through this, I can say: it crushes your soul and completely destroys you... It will take me an eternity to bounce back,’ Mel B said in an interview with Good Morning Britain about her experiences. Perhaps this kind of shocking imagery is exactly what is needed. Better than silence.
